I can tell you my own experience, I'm using MG Organic Choice Garden Soil
I did 10% perlite, most seem to use a bit more perlite, some as much as 50%
The resulting soil turned out quite firm, when its dry, it's like a hockey puck
On the positive side, my 1st watering after start was 10 days! Less perlite will give a soil that really hangs on to the moisture. This is the plant at 3 weeks of 12/12.

well i think i over did it but i would rather over do it then under. i want my plant to have tons of root room.

should be the same root room either way, the trade offs are, high perlite - better moisture control but more frequent waterings low perlite - less often waterings
cannabis roots will easily penetrate most soils

Well we have helicopters that fly around and this stuff is white and would stick out like a sore thumb I would think in a gorilla garden from the air. If I could color the perlite to a green or brown I would like it better I would also like to know if anyone knows of a good cover plant for between the plants the wouldn't soak up nutes and water to much.

for mg organic potting soil i think 10 - 20 % is good. i use 20% in my mix and that is good for me.
