I do like the lamp a lot and had amazing results in the past. It can be less attractive depending on temps. That’s where LEDs really outshine MH. Temps are tough especially in tents. Can't wait to see how they come along

Yes, I do get algae. Dr Bud was convinced it doesn't harm the plant meaningfully, at least with his setup. Guess it's another thing I'll have to experiment with in the future, blacked out container vs clear. A few people have threads on RIU and icmag who are convinced it doesn't make a difference.

With mosquito bits i only use once or twice in the beginning. Then ill use it if i see any gnats. Havent seen any since last infestation about 3 runs ago.

Yeah algae will affect smaller root systems is my understanding. And the only harm or effect is competing for water and nutrients. No disease that i know of. But if the algae gets spread out enough it could kill a plant. From my research efforts on that subject.

I think it might be a good idea to cover it up though, bc i dont think roots like light. Not to sure but i think ive read somewhere they dont like light. Could be wrong though.

That makes sense, seedlings are more vulnerable. I’m assuming dr bud wasn’t overwatering so maybe algae wasn’t so bad. There were overwatering issues in my grow and noticed the algae took off in those containers. Am sure there’s nuance to it and algae can end up killing a plant.

That’s what I’ve always heard too and always covered containers. In DrBuds thread there was a bit of an argument about it, some growers chimed in, and suddenly it was on my radar that some tested this theory and claimed it didn’t hold up. Made me curious. So now I’m investigating…and glad for other reasons because seeing mycorrhiza and the root network under a magnifying glass is fun while blazed

Im interested in your study or experiment. If its true im sure we would definitely see more see through pots on the market. Because i think every grower i know would love to see the soil food web, up close. Yeah i do that sometimes, i have to scratch the top soil to see the lil buggers. I love sog for testing seeds. Your "hermi" experiments should produce some interesting plants. Its not difficult to breed out sensitive plants or straight hermaphrodites, it just requires time and large volumes of seedlings. Sog style of growing allows you test dozens of seeds in a single 12/12 cycle, depending on the size of grow room/tent. You could breed out unwanted traits in 4-5 years, no problem.
Especially if you keep strong parent plants around for cubing.
Ive grown sog style in the past specifically to test hundreds of seeds. It was a lof work, but I enjoyed it.

That’s true, you’d think we’d see more. If I run clones in a blacked out and clear and they put out the same weight and even cured bud has similar taste / high, to me it would mean the difference is negligible. I’ll go back and look soon to post the links, but I found people who did side by side experiments and had the same weight.
There’s been so many times, in different subject matter even, when I challenged the way most people do things and had crazy results. So now I’m a lifelong experimenter

I can deal with 4-5 years of narrowing down exactly what I want. What a learning experience it will be.

Love the use of those plastic cups. I use the ones that jello come in, in the single serving packs. Just poke a hole and good to go. Reusable too.

Interesting stying under 2 is where most would want to be as optimal, but lower in small chambers is tough. I average about 1.35 throughout my grow, with exception to when my girls were seedlings to early veg I got it down for awhile to .8 to 1.0.

It's been a min! Thought I would update.
Figured out the nute issues. The pH was too high. Bought an EC meter and started correcting pH after mixing ferts. Right away, everything responded positively.
There are a lot of plants lol. This is the last time so many will appear together. There are moms, freshly rooted clones, and a few different weeks of flowering plants in the 1st photo. 2nd are all flowering clones.
The tiniest recently placed in flowering are Thai Jack x ?, the tall girls are Mimosa EVO, the thicc'n at the bottom is Panama x Bangi Haze.
I'll be back in the future noting some of the results of experimenting with the clones. If you're reading this, I hope you're well and with quality herb in your rotation <3
