I only got thrips leaving the veg plants outside last summer, it was over 90 degrees and too hot in the tent. Next time they stay inside the window, not going outside again, not worth it!

Thrips are easy, BT, spinosade, PFR97 , grandevo, mpede, pyrithren anything... will decimate thrips.(drench with some of these products with left overs to get a secondary contact with nyphm and juvenile life stages)

Just have to beat their reproductive cycles...lower temps below 68 for a few days, a week, to control breeding.

Live stages move from leaf to soil to leaf... removes leaves, use diocrematious earth on the top soil.

Also personal favorite set it forget beneficial biological

Hypoapsis miles... if you source frim a known qualified insecturary you won't ever need to spray chemicals

I ended up with thrips from recycling soil just like the OP was wondering. If they are in your environment they’ll easily find their way into your storage or did in my case.

I see a lot of good ways to nuke them here but also Neem oil even at less than half strength, 10ml per gallon took care of them. Drench and soak. No burnt leaves even on seedlings at this strength. They’ll still hatch for a bit but you’ll notice no more eggs. Soon they’re gone

They Fly. The best thing to kill them and knock them out is a root drench of Spinosad and a good spray down on the undersides and then tops of leaves. It's an OMRI organic product and will knock them out in 1 application.
