I'm using a 1000watt Lumateck hps light with a in line 8in fan two osalating fans a light rail mover and was using air conditioning as well. I just veged for 30 days with the first two weeks on 20/4 and the last two weeks on 18/6 . Everything I read about how much it should cost to run a 1000watt setup said exspect a 100 to a 150 more $ on your bill. Well I just got my first bill and it was 625$ witch is 400$ more than it normaly is. Hella sucks. Does this sound normal. I think mabey the inline fan was making the ac work over time? Not sure. I was going to veg longer but now I have to flower right away.

For anyone reading this. So far from what I can tell when growing indoors I think the best and cheapest way to do it is not to try and grow big high yealding plants but to grow more smaller plants. Veg (18/6) for at the most two weeks then go into flower (12/12) there smaller. They'll be Easy to take care of them , you can grow more of them and it won't take as long so your power bill will be a lot smaller as well.

Damn,my bill is $340,I run 1 1000,1 5200 btu a/c,6 fluorescent fixtures,1 4inch can fan,1 6 inch can fan,and not including the central a/c in my house, plus a swamp cooler in a guest house that is always on and it's hot out here 100 plus everyday.Sounds wrong maybe your venting all your cold air out,you might want to set your vent system differently.

Bummer, Google Kill a Watt. Their like 20-30 bucks. I need to get one also. But its a neat little gismo that does a cost analyst of electric devices. You can find out where the largest draws are coming from. That might help?bongsmilie

damn thats fuckin expensive bro . every 2 1/2 hours equals 1000 kwh and mine dont even cost that much its only like 8 bucks difference on my bill . check your bill and go where it says 1100kwh or what ever and look at the cents it has and since ur using 1000kwh its chargibng you that by the exact hour get lower bulbs bro like 400w so you pay for every 2 1/2 hour instead of every hour with that 1000w

Yea I think your right about the cold air being drawn out I have my in-line fan setup directly to my light that's on a light rail that moves right over my ac vent. I'm probly going to turn the ac on less and cover the vent or mabey run some duckting out up to the top of the other side of the room? Not sure all I know is somthing is wrong. Everything I got is top of the line and shouldn't be problematic .

the way i understand it (and i could be wrong) is you are allowed a certain amount of power usage each month and when you go over your allowed limit than the price goes up and they set you a new limit at that new price. If you go over that limit the price per killawatt goes up again and so on and so on...

maybe thats why everyones bills are always higher than the guestimation that is made based on the "standard" killawatt rate... but your only getting that rate for first part of the month (before you break your limit)

dont wanna use #'s here but my bill has a comma in the number :(

You need to vent and draw your hood air from a seperate space.

All your cold air vent out???See I have panda film dividing the room, one side is the flowering area, the other just open space,In the flowering area I have a window a/c that blows cold air in,on top I have 4 inch ducting sucking out smell outside the flowering area into the same room and of course the cold air gets sucked out also cooling the rest of the room, when my light turns on the inline fan turns on to cool my hood but I use air from the outside and vent hot air out through ducting, not ever sucking out my cold air out keeping my room cooler meaning a/c not overworking itself.

Edited: didnt see last post same thing more words

if you exceed a certain amount beyond last year's consumption for that month there is a fine that is assessed. the power companies are trying to conserve as much electricity as possible, so you may want to reread your bill because chances are there might be a large fine on there that contributed to your huge bill.
