ph can you adjust every day ?

No more than once a day. The idea is to let it swing within a range not to try to hold it to 5.8. Try to do your adjustment and check at the same time every day.

The problem is that I`ll put down to 6.5 then the next day it`s up in the 8`s again. Can I keep dropping it down every day?
I`m using a flood tray with a 20 gallon res. & floranova.

What kind of water did you start with? How old are the plants in there?

I use tap water and never have a single issue with ph, but I live in a area that doesn't treat the water. Ph comes out with nutes to 5.9, even after a week it stays in same area, at most 6.1. Depending on the area you live, it probably is the tap water doing it. Too much change in ph causes hermies, stress, etc. Look at your roots too and make sure they are good, if you see light brown and slime on them, then root rot could be causing it.

I agree. Either organic matter in the res is causing it or the tap water is naturally buffered high and will keep trying to get back there. The solution to the first one is a flush and a root check and possible treatment, for the second use ro water.

Organics or root rot will lower the pH not raise it. You likely have hard alkaline water. Do you have a white build up around your faucets. Does it take a lot of soap to wash with and a lot of shampoo to wash your hair?

What we need to do is figure out why it is going up that much each day. Because that is not right!!! You shouldn't see a swing of more than a few tenths of a point a night at most. Are you sure not introducing hard water each day when you add water, or nutes, or anything at all??? Really want to help you here, cause I've had PH prob's in the past and I know how much they can suck!!!

What are you using to lower the pH? You are not using vinegar/acetic or citric acid are you? If so switch to phosphoric acid or nitric acid, or even sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid if you must. The effect of weak acids such as vinegar/acetic citric acid are usually very short lived. Nothing against organics but at times chemicals such as mineral acids beat the organics hands down.
