I have 2 questions. After i add fish emulsion to my water to feed it brings the PH way down. Im growin in soil. Can i add baking soda to the water to bring the PH up? Will addin bakin soda have a negative effect after a while of using it? Sorry its more than 2 ?s. Do i water with higher PH water till it runs out the bottom a few times to adjust the PH of the soil? TY vry much for any input

Baking Soda, aka Sodium Bicarbonate, has salt in it, and it will cause a buildup very quickly (and create a whole new set of problems for your plant), so I would advise against using it to raise your ph. I tried a lot of things, baking soda, spa up, but I always had problems until I bought some ph-up.

I use baking soda as PH up in my hydro. I never need to use PH up unless I over do the PH down, then I use it. I don't use it often but when needed I do. It can cause problems if you need to use a lot over time. It it a very cheap solution for infrequent problems but I am not sure I could continue to use it if I needed to PH up my water as much as I need to PH it down.

I just use barricade or some other type of potassium silicate. It brings ph up and also is good for the plants.
I do the same. If I overdo the phdown I give it potassium silicate. I use dyna gro pro-tekt. This is a good way to balance out your acidic nutrient solution and strengthen you plants cell walls.

If you're worried about price, head to your local pet store and buy a pH testing and changing kit.

It'll come with three bottles, a vial, and a chart.

It costs $10 at the big chains and will last forever.

It has pH testing solution, pH down, and pH up - everything you need.
