I would first if I'm using tap water let it sit for about 24 hours. I take the Ph then I add my nutes they usually bring my ph down a few notches then I use ph down it works for my situation. Try that and let me know. oh how many nutes are you giving? Good Luck

Use ph down AFTER u add nutes. As some nutes tends to screw with the ph. I added nutes before and made the ph go down. Then other times i added nutes and made the ph go up. I used distiled water so ph sems to be a lil more stable.

dosent it make more sense to get the ph to the desired level then add nutes couse every time i add ph down the ec or ppms go up so i can end up with a stronger solution than needed and burn the plants

Always add nutes first. Then ph your water. then check you EC. if your ec is too high then you need to use less nutes to correct it. It does not make more sense to ph the water first because some nutes will effect your ph. Some nutes have ph buffers in them and dont effect the ph but alot of them dont. always ph your water after you add nutes.

I find if you wait 24 hours after adding nutes before you adjust the ph, it's much more stable throughout the life cycle of the nutes.
