Ph Fixing Question.

If my ph of my soil is 5.8 how much dolomitic lime should I use in a 5 gallon bucket to fix it without going too alkaline. I know the rule of thumb is 2tsp per gallon of soil but I had treated this issue in the past with lime and it came back. I just don't want to use too much, or is there a plateau of how high the ph will go with lime? Thank you.

they are showing a cal mag deficiency but I have been feeding them properly and trying to fix the issue and then I checked the ph and it was pretty low so I figured it was locking out the nutes I gave it.

This is the same thing that happened in the beginning when I started these plants and the same thing is happening now but more rapidly and then I checked the Ph out of curiosity and it was 5.9 on all plants. I thought that the dolomitic lime would remain active throughout the grow but I am wrong apparently. I tested the soil half way down in the 5 gallon pot in three different places and the PH was the same low.

Hi Cpappa27,
I heard 1 tsp/gal of soil...but also that too much won't really hurt anything. Like Missbell said, just top dress it and it will absorb as you water. Sounds like things are going good...keep it up.
