Ok so bubble buckets, adjusted to 6.0 using dyna grow nutes, currently on 2nd grow with no problems on the first.
So after one day being at 6.0 the next moring they slide to 4.3-4.5.
The only difference i did this round was to silicone the airstones to the bottom so they wouldnt float up to the top.
i let the silicone dry for at least 24 hrs but it was still tacky, it may have been an old tube that just didnt dry and cure fully being that is was old, and am thinking after the month ist been in the water it has begun to break down and make the water too acidic.
ANY INSIGHT ON THIS anyone??
just ready to flip to flower and was thinking before i do, just scrub the buckets and airstones or just buy all new stones and kinda start over with a fresh solution and clean buckets to start flower with.
im gona do this later today so i hope to hear if yall think this is the right path or if theres anything else that would work.
thanks!!:joint:

BUMP, 30 views and no replys, any long time growers ever encounter a rising (acidic) PH over the course of 24 hrs?? and in my situation do ya think this is my only concern regarding the rising of acidity, or am i over looking something??

ah well the silicone thats most widely used is acidic. the non-acidic is the one used in totally submerged condition. if it was still not well cured i bet that it is the only cause. i would definitely flush my res and remove silicon

I'm not familiar with the silicone issue you speak of but usually a pH drop means the plants are drinking more water than nutes, aka, overfeeding can be a culprit. Also, are you using Protekt? It has a pH of 12 I think? With a high pH, it will balance the acidity of the nutes to give the user a super stable pH until the res needs changed again. Then again, maybe there is something to your silicone issue?

Homebrewer, yeah i am also using the pro-tek forgot to mention that above. i went ahead and bought new air stones and washed and scrubbed out the remaining silicone. That HAS got to be it there is nothing i did differntly from last grow to this one except the silicone the air stones to the bottom which new round i will buy a new aquarium safe silicone which will be safe for fish and plants.
And i also thought about the plants drinking more wather then nutes, but i feed on a every outher time basis, water, nutes, water, nutes... so they are getting more water then nutes and overfertilization wouldn't be a concern.
Zem i dont leave my nutes mixed to sit over 24 hrs or anything, but i do let my rez filler buckets sit over night to become room temp instead of the 40 degree tap water im getting now!! LOL
