PH Meter vs PH Sticks which to believe.

I dont have any calibrating solution for my Hannah PH Meter (the red one). It seems to take 10 minutes to settle on a single PH lvl. The PH also seems to jump in my system ALOT (think its just my Ph meter being junk). So I decided to double check my PH with sticks. The sticks read 5.25-ish but the PH meter reads 7.13. Which to believe? =/ Ordering calibrating solution now ><

I have the same meter in the past have had the same problem I believe there are 2 different calibration fluids for the Hannah. I have yet to buy them, I went and picked up another digital ph meter that only has one type of calibration fluid never had a problem since.

I would defiantly believe the sticks over the uncalabrated meter

Okay, which meter did you pick up? Link please? Im currently shopping for a replacement one, or the correct solution to fix it. Would a PH issue cause the tips of my leafs/random spots in the center to turn brown?

I think Ill just buy solution and calibrate my Hannah PH meter. Im definately buying a 3-continous PH/EC/Temp meter for next grow.

Hey bro i was looking at your grow and it looks like ph is causing those spots. and you say your mixing random amounts of nutes like a 60 40 mix you need a ppm meter to properly monitor your nutes especially in your hydro system so you don't overnute. I see you having problems in the future if you don't get your nutes figured out. post what nutes you have and the ingredients of each and npk on your grow thread and I'll give you some advice bro.

Ive got a TDS/EC meter and have the EC monitored. The amount of GROW/MICRO nutes is random though. The SH bubbleponics doesnt tell whats in each nute package (solid nutes, mixable powder). I just want hydro nutes that wont be missing elements/nutrients that Ill need. I have yet to find or fully research any nutes yet, except Jack's Classic which I heard was awesome but they were bought out and I cant find their classic stuff.

Links to sets of hydro nutes that work properly for average/lower cost? Want to avoid expensive/unneccesary nutes.

Dude, fuck that powder shit off and go to your local hydroponics shop and buy some 2 part liquid nutrients. They have everything a plant needs and you don't have to guess random amounts like you been doing. All you do is add equal parts until desired EC level is reached. I wouldn't wory about what brand they are. It will cost around $20. Also use your pH test strips until you get the calibration stuff for ya meter. pH of 5.25 sounds good.

I dont grow in hydro, i do soil so im not sure what you should use but look in the hydro section of the forum and im sure other will tell you what there using..

do some research on the nutes you have. also search the forums to see if anyone else is using the same nutes.

Just buy some proper nutes before you kill them or maybe you could look at the instructions on the nutes you already have. Are they for hydroponics????

I keep PH sticks for backup ;) Neva know when a digi will accidentally fall into the water or take a crap on ya ;) Cheap and effective plus you dont have to recalibrate em

How do you calibrate it though? How can you tell when it needs to be calibrated? Just putt it in the solution and hit a button?? My PH meter has these weird screws on the top =S

I have the HM COM-100 Digital TDS/EC pen and I love that thing. That need to be calibrated too!?
