Hi,
Maybe lots of you have professional tools to measure the pH, but I will give an alternative I just found on ebay and I want to share with you and with other people that are on small budget.

The gadget is called "3in1 Plant Flowers Soil PH Tester/Moisture/Light Meter" and the seller is from China. I got mine for 0.35 euros + shipping

Looks like this : 3in1.JPG and...it's working :) so if you don't have a pH/moisture/light tester and if you don't have a big budget...hope this will help

No offence bro but that green 3in one from china is a crap, a childs toy, do not rely on this thing for accuracy, your growing dope plants indoor and using a$2 toy meter. You can get one for $25 (china)that will do the job.

Those type of meters are only ok for testing your moisture content of your soil. The pH side of this meter will only work to show you if the soil is in the extremes of acidity or alkalinity.

If you want to have control over pH of your nute mix then this this won't help.

If you control pH going into your plants you won't need to test your mediums pH.

Actually I had been using a liquid test kit while I'm saving up for a quality ph pen. For the he'll of it I dipped my cheap china 3 in 1 in my pitcher of standing out water. My tap water ph is around 7 so I tone it down a bit. It is at Least as accurate as my color coded dropper tube for liquid ph. I found that to be neat however it can't really dial stuff in super accurate.

i have had 2 of them.when checked, 1 was dead on the other showed vineger,OJ and amonia all around 6-7
to check yours, vineger should be around 2,OJ about 3,milk around 6,egg white about 8 and amonia over 10

Having a pH pen around is a definite plus, but don't stress over pH in soil. A soilless medium can be problematic, but if you mix it and lime it properly, pH in soil or soilless mediums is for the most part a non-issue. Newbies see alot of stress placed on pH by the hydro guys and immediately think that it applies to soil as well.

In hydroponics where there is nothing to buffer the pH, it's crucial, but soil is a buffer (with lime added) in itself. the pH of whatever you put in will be brought to the pH of the soil. There is a brief explanation of soil pH and how to test it properly in my journal.
