pH monitoring, cheap and easy

I was out at a local petstore and I found these things called pH Alert by Seachem.

They're for fresh water, they have a little pH color wheel that goes from 5.8-8.6 and an indicator in the middle that changes colors. It's got a suction cup to attach to the bucket/rubbermaid.

They say they last for 3-6 months and if that's true I'm fine with the $6 a piece if it means being able to see pH at a glance. So far it seems in line with the pH reading I get with the drops kit I have.

I tried searching the forums but I couldn't find anyone else mentioning them, anyone had any experience using these?

Here is the company's product page: http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/pHAlert.html

With a quick google search I found them for $5 a piece here: https://www.dtpetsupplies.com/catalog/product_info.php?language=en&currency=USD&products_id=4776

You've got to keep light out of the reservoir so I have it attached to the inside and it's opaque, but I just reach in at the top of the water and pull it out of there. Much easier than grabbing a water sample, adding a few drops to it and then comparing it. I'll see how accurate it stays over the next few weeks.
