You need to get some ph down and a ph test kit. The only way to get root rot is to overwater so make sure you let your soil dry before you water and flushing on a regular schedule is a good idea too!

2 things will put this behind you.

- buy digital ph meter - hanna is good and on ebay around 30 bucks. buy the cleaning, storage and ph test stuff. nothing else works like a digital meter...

- Research FF Ocean forest soil set when you get it at the perfect ph and all that other natural stuff made for this plant. Many recipes but ocean forest, domolite lime and some extra perlite and this problem will completely go away as well as many other issues...knats ect.....plants will be so green your existing plant may just regreen some almost lost leafs

Sounds to me like you need to really flush that badboy. I'd say go to walmart and pick up a couple large rubermaid or similar containers at least a gal or two more than the pot pot( lol). If youdont have ph down use white distilled vineger ( full strength not that watered down shit) and fill one container with enough water that when younset the pot in there the water comes over the top a little. Ph this ( Luke warm)(68-72)water to 6.8(I assume u have meter or something since u stated the 8.0) now dunk the pot into the phed water and wait 15 min pull it out and put in other bucket to drain( oyeah you should prob add a few drain holes unless u feel that u have plenty) now dump the othe water and ph up some more while the pot drains. Once mostly drained repeat the process and thenonce more, by thenyour ph should be solid and you shouldent need to water for a few days. Ph your water after u nute and keep it round6.6-7

O yeah I'd use a dropper with that viniger cause it only takes a little but it sounds like ur water sourse runs pretty high and is part af the existing prob, and improper ph causes all kinds of probs
