Ph problems?

Watered and tested my runoff
It's 7.8
I'm using vermisoil potting soil
I'm wondering if 7.8 is high for runoff

I'm also wondering if this could be causing some of my vegging plants leaves to be a bit more yellow and older leaves turning dark dark dark purple almost black

Another question I have is
Do I ph my water then add nutes? Or do I add nutes then ph the water...

Sorry if my questions are retarded

Just lookin for info

You should be adjusting the ph of the final solution.Runoff ph is not always a good indicator of rootzone ph,pictures of the full plant under natural lighting would help.

What was the ph of the liquid you poured in? If it was tap water at 7.8. then that runoff isn't bad. If it was nutrients at 5.8, I'd say there's a problem.

If you want to check the ph of your soil, buy a Control Wizard Accurate 8 soil probe. Short of that, google for "NCSU Pour-Through Runoff Method." Checking your spontaneous/casual runoff isn't very accurate. That method is better.

Photo please, under natural-looking light.

Some of us growing in soil don't ph what we pour in. The soil contains buffers which, as long as you're not overfeeding, should hold it's ph. But, when starting to grow I can understand trying to control this. In a later grow you should try going without.

Can anyone help me please first grow using coco fast and vast autos they were germinated on 22nd December I've got canna nutrients and have used half measures as they are young my ph is going up an down like a fucking yoyo it's starting to do my head in.
The leaves on the bottom of half the plants are going brown and crispy (looks brown anyway they re under led lights so might be slight different colour)
I've watered down the nutrient tank since I've seen the problem I'm using autopots. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Forgot to say it's only on top leaves of one plant and on bottom leaves of 3/4 out of 9.
But the rest look nice and healthy the tips of some of the leaves are a tiny bit brown but I've read that that's normal they look nice and green an are starting to smell nice.
This is called thread jacking lol. Well help you, just not on someone elses thread. Welcome to riu.

As az says, soil buffers ph anyway. To me it looks like a feeding problem. If you arent feeding maybe some food will bring them back around.

Soil does buffer but if you don't add extra buffering like oyster gypsum lime etc then it will swing widely as the above helps balance the pH to a stable #
