Ph reading issues

Hello, I'm really having issues reading my soil pH. I have an anolog reader, a digital reader and the strips. When I use the anolog one is doesn't really move kinda just shows 7 or just higher. When I use the digital one it shows 5.5. when I use my strips it shows like 8. And when I test my run off using my liquid digital meter(which I do have figured out and calibrated) I put water in at about 6.5 and my run off is like 6. Please I'm very confused all my reading are fighting each other.maybe how you can help is to show me the specific meter you use and the way u use it. Thank you

The analog one throw away, it's worthless ( the 3 in 1 your talking about right)

The strips I never used

But the digital one you need to make a slurry. Take 1 part soil and 3 parts water in a cup mix it up , continue to mix once in a while for 24 hrs. Then strain through a couple coffee filters and check the pH.

The anolog one is the one from luster leaf with just pH on it. And as for the slurry, the digital one(also from luster leaf) says you shouldn't put it in any liquid at all so I was confused. Maybe I'll try it anyway

It says don't put into liquid? Maybe you shouldn't then lol what brand and model is it. I use the Oakton pH meter and it's lasted for 5 years. However when it goes I'll be going with the blue lab one mentioned above.


Edit: I looked it up (your digital one) yeah you need another pH pen. So invest in the blue lab If you got the money and are serious, or check out the Oakton meter

So I looked up what your referring too and I do have a pH pen for liquids like that. Never tryed to read a slurry. So sorry but I like to be specific. Doing the slurry I take one part soil and three parts, I assume r/o water mix it. Then I'm guessing it needs to mix a bit like for a minute. Filter it and take my reading. This reading should be the soil pH? Is this correct

Yes sorry that's a big thing I forgot to say mix 1 part with 3 parts neutral water (distilled/ro) stir once in a while for 24 hrs, at least over night. Then strain and measure.

Overnight wow ok ty very much, but then that will be the pH of the soil?

In my mind it would be a mix of the 7 pH from the water and the pH of the soil like if the soil was 6 and the r/o is 7 then the slurry would be 6.5 am I wrong?

yes, the amount of the EC of both items is going to decide how strong the pH gets pulled towards the stronger side.

usually towards the soil, (unless the soil has been used up.)

How to Test Soil Using the Slurry Method
  1. Gather some soil from the test area.
  2. Take the homogeneous sample and add equal parts of soil and distilled or deionized (DI) water in a 1:1 ratio. So, for 25 grams of soil you would add 25 mL of water.
  3. Stir the sample for 5 seconds.
  4. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  5. Start stirring the sample again after 15 minutes, and take your measurement.
