hi guys im having strange problem , When i measure the ph in my reservoir with a adwa ph meter it shows 4,9 for example , but if i take a sample in a glass it shows 5.7 from the exactly same water , if a take a reading with a ghe test kit its shows the coloration from arround 5.7 , same reading as the sample .. this started hapenning in my last reservoir clean up .. what the hell could this be ?

have you calibrated and cleaned your ph probe recently?

Sounds like your PH meter needs recalibrated....not sure why you'd be getting different test results from measuring directly from the res, and scooping some water out of the res and testing it...

That's the only thing I thought of. I'm no expert, but I might start a thread on ph meters soon. Since they are not understood (by growers) and often used improperly, I bet most people are not getting accurate readings. The second video is very good IMO.

Sounds like the water is charged in the reservoir. Do you have any electric devices in there? Like a submersible pump?
Yes i do , 2 of them the pump and the mixer thaks alot to all the ones that help i will try to check if there is any wire conducting electricity thanks alot it makes total sense

Your PH meter is out of calibration , if you read the instructions on the blue lab PH meter for example it will tell you, if it dries it dies , in other words you must always keep the probe wet once you start using it, if it dries , it dies, most meters are the same, they must be kept wet,

That's not quite right. If you plan not to use your pH pen for some time you can let it dry right out but you must soak it in storage sol'n or equivalent for a minimum of 24 hours before putting the batteries back in and using. First use should be a 2 point calibration, 7 and 4. If it won't calibrate then turn it off and let it soak for another day. I retired mine for 2 years and needed to use it a few months ago and it still worked fine after soaking for 2 days. It's been sitting with storage sol'n in the cap since the last use. Do not soak in RO or distilled water as that will destroy the probe for sure. Will leach the salts out of the glass probe.

PPM pens should be rinsed with clean water or RO and the cap left off so the probe tips dry. I always have a spray bottle marked Pure Water Only just for things like rinsing my pens. OK to use that on the pH pen too at the end of use as long as it's going to sit in storage sol'n right a way after.

My pH pen is at least 7 years old now. An EcoTestr pH1 made by Eutech/Oakton. Was $69 new at a garden center. Waterproof too.

I only used blue labs, I never stored them ' they were always in use and always kept wet according to instruction and calibrated at every use with 3 and 7 solutions , in the box with solution to keep the pen moist and if it dries it dies, I thought it was kind of funny when I read this and that's how I remember them saying this in the literature ,

If it dries it dies lol. That might be true sometimes but I bought both my combo meters out of a dirty ass bin in some dudes garage, both probes dried and covered in shit with no caps.
Cleaned them up and both served me very well for the remainder of my grow.
The glass you use for a sample......you wouldn't be using that glass to add stuff to your res and then taking a sample with it would you? I have done that.

I do the same thing as you...my Bluelab Combo meter is used more like a 'monitor', being left in my res 100% of the time except for measuring my veggy tent's buckets and cleaning/calibrating. I did buy the bluelab PH/PPM Cleaning and Calibration kit and it was worth it. I think that when left submerged in nute solution 24/7 it probably does increase the frequency of needed cleanings and calibrations, but thus far I do just fine with 1 cleaning and 2 point calibration (4&7) every 1-2 months.

Yeah, I've been leaving the probe in nute solution to observe ph drift. Just had a look at that cleaning kit, lots of good info on the Bluelab site!

I love my Milwaukee MW-102 with digital calibration and two point decimal accuracy, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy Bluelab!
