Ph Under 4.0

Hello All,

Im having a problem with my plant which is about 4 weeks into flowering.
The Ph level is bouncing between 3.8 to 4.5 The plant is in the ground so i can flush
Ive looked into the baking soda to increase pH but when testing it on seperate soil
it increased the acidy level.

Is there anyway i can increase the pH level ive tried to give it some extra water
but that hasn't helped my water is pH 6.0 from tap.

Also i am using fertiziler on it so im guessing that is the reason for the higher acid levels.
Thanks

Say what! .....try the baking soda again ma'man...and this time re-check, re-calibrate your meter or strips or whatever....

..if you still believe in the "chemically impossible", then try some pickling lime (only at much smaller doses)...either will work in raising your pH (but mind you there is calcium in the pickling lime)

edit: there is a thread somewhere here on RIU that competently outlines basic chemistry in raising/lowering pH .... this dude explains the the how-tos and what to use/ not to use et et (I think some of what I mentioned has caveats)

STOP USING BAKING SODA!!!!!!!! it's a salt! and salt is a NO-NO!...how are you measuring your Ph???? you said the ph went even lower when using the soda, which is impossible...so either your method of measuring PH is faulty or ???

Baking soda isn't a problem because it's a salt, it's a problem because it contains sodium (it's sodium bicarbonate). Don't use baking soda!

Lime (calcium carbonate) is good for amending soil to buffer pH and provide calcium. It's very insoluble uptake is very slow, and does not leach easily.

Potassium hydroxide is more water soluble and a stronger pH up, but provides potassium instead of calcium, and is very easy to leach from the soil.
