i find digital for ph just doesnt last and need to be calibrated to often.
that ph looks great for soil. its between 5.5-6.5

do it on a white backgrowund or the background colours play a bit to the real colour. pens may need calabrating but at least they are way more accurate.

Yellowish Green. Looks pretty good to me. Only thing I don't like about those type of testers is once you add your nutes you can't get a accurate reading because the nutes change the color of the water. So you have to test it before adding nutes.

it looks lime green to me, and a digi pen is much easier, i bought one for 40 bucks and it never needed to be calibrated i checked to make sure every few days,
and 55 is to low6 is as low as you would want it to be

testing before nutes is no good as its nutes that drop the ph after its added. and they can only be as accurate as a .5 reading. we need tighter than that. ya i know others will say ph dont matter. been seing alot of that on here. trust me, the morew accurate you are with it the betetr the grow and less foods needed.

thanks everyone... so what should a color blind kid do? go digital or stick with this? I know it seems dumb, but yellow and green can be tough for me.

if hes in water then he nersd to be below 6...5.5 is closer for hydro. nobody even knows the medium and tell him the ph he needs????

get the pen dood...you be way happier and more accurate, and like i said....use less nutes

I would go digital

Hey Mcpurple where did you find your pen for 40 bucks, thats a good price. And yeah, the nutes do change your PH, so thats another reason I don't like those type of testers.

And Medi 1. Not sure why people say PH doesn't matter. It matters bigtime. You can get nutrient lockout with the incorrect PH. And thats no good.

oh i know. i actualy work for a nute co and am trying to help others but keep getting slammed for sayin ph is one of the most impiostant things in a good grow...and less use of foods. kinda makes me laugh and they thinjk its top dank. id like to test the efficacy of this so called dank. actualy we have and most was about the 12% mark and others at 17 to 20% or so. a picture dosnt show this answer though so its hard to show it.

i got mine at a local hydro shop, it was a Milwaukee 600 and worked just great for me. and yes PH does matter alot going in you should always know what it is if your in sol just test the water/nute solution ph before watering and if to low or high adjust it\.

ya but as you have said to me a few times now a ph of 6 to 7 or anything inbetween ios ok...sorry its not. yes they will grow but you will use way more foods as the ph isnt at the best uptake levels. thats the diff. same as we can use mg. but yet it only has 2 elements of the 17 plants need to be healthy. kinda like livin on mc donalds our whole lives...we wont die but qwe sure arent healthyt as we can be. heck even vegatariians arent as healthy as they should be with all the missing vitamins that meat and dairy has to make a full feed. most i see are all skinny and sick looking...and no offecne to any on here.

Thats cool you work for a nute company. Then you know all about nutrient lockup and over feeding. common mistake with new growers.

Oh cool. Thats a good price you got. I need a new Ph tester. Ill have to see if I can find the milwaukee tester. I know hannah is good but those testers cost so much money.

Sorry I should have been more specific. I am doing hydro, ebb and flow, flora series, just rockwooled my clones2010-10-13 00.26.01.jpg

This is my first hydro attempt, just started it yesterday. I am using 15gal of h2o, I did 37.5ml of each flora product. I am following this chart. I have my lights on for 18/6 right now, 400+w HO t5, sunsystem 48 (4x2 8bulb).

My strain is unknown, but I have an old fuck friend in Europe for a semester bringing me back some big bud seeds from cannabis cub next week. Mailing them rather.

These is all I know for now, Friday is payday, I will get a digital pH probe then.

Over time, like the next few days, as I am checking my pH in the reservoir, can I assume that it will general go down (pH). I have purchased a pH up solution, but not pH down yet, so that will be pay day too.

most i see rise not go down. use 5.5 for your ph in hydro..it is a bit bigger of a ph window but we3 find most strains run best at that number,.i try and not move more than a .2 if needs moving up or down. with the liquid you wont be able to go that little till you get the pen. and dont spend all oyur money on nutes or seed. the main place to be a good growewr to spend is on your room and room conditions and the tools we use. if those arent any good then no nute nor seed will do as it was intended to.

Good Luck on your first hydro attempt. I hope your girls come out lovely. Since your growing with hydro you want your PH to be around 5.5

I am pretty damn sure that I follow the chart correctly. My friend who is experienced with hydro told me that the nutrients, Flora in specific, should balance itself pH wise, when added in the order: micro, gro, bloom. Mixing the water well in between each. He did a sample for me in a quart of water, the color was perfect. Then when I tried, alone, with 15gal of distilled water from the grocery store, I get this greenish color. I know that I used the right amount of each. http://www.hydroponics.net/learn/weekly_feeding_program_flora.asp this is the schedule I am using. I definitely need to lower the pH, I do not have pH down as I said. I do have Botanicare Cal-Mag which I was told brings pH down. Should I add some of that for the mean time. Mean time being payday on Friday.
