My ph of my tap water is around 9 and when i add 1 drop of my ph down it takes it down to around 5.9 i read your not supposed to mix ph up and down together so how am i supposed to get my ph at 6.5 :/

I always mixed them before switching to organic soil. Now I don't have to worry about ph at all
?I'm not saying it's ok to mix the two, I'm simply saying, I've always done it when I made mistakes and brought it down too low and had to bring it back up. I wouldn't take my advice as fact though.

if its just tap water chuck it out then start again but instead of just adding ph down straight to the res add it to a bottle of water first then add that to the res.

What volume of water is it that you add only 1 drop and it comes down to 5.9 from around 9? Just add a little more water to bring it up from 5.9 to 6.5.

Yah what Seedling said. I use gal size jugs and my plain 7.7ph tap water takes 15 or so drops to bring it down to the 6.5 range using GH ph down.

Tell me - how much water does this one drop of pH Down make go from a supposed pH of 9 to a pH anywhere near 7? Much less in the 5's? Do you have a good pH meter and know how to use it? And when was the last time it was properly calibrated?

I'm not buying that water from an approved source is testing at 9! That's extremely corrosive.

Add the one drop to a larger amount of water.What are you doing, adding the drop to a dixie cup of water?
