Wait a minute.. are you crackin' on me for liking chickens?

(Actually, I really do want chickens and I want at least one rooster... err.. you know, to crow for me and make collecting eggs difficult.)
I'd like to know why the peacocks I hear over at Grinding Rock don't call when it gets cold. Monday I saw two LARGE turkey cocks all puffed up and showing off to a pair of pygmy goats. One of the goats was a billy and I was driving by too quickly to watch them, but they were all cuddled up together and the turkeys were puffy. Puffy turkeys.
Then, just down the road from us I saw a BIG crane (I think, I haven't looked in my bird book). I've been hearing them fly overhead, their call is different from geese and I have never ever heard them before!

(I love birdwatching). AND! We've had BUTTLOADS of western bluebirds! Just buttloads! Every day, they're so cool.
Oops, just looked in my book, it had to be a great blue heron, because it had the pointy feathers at the back of its head. It was pretty tall.
Anyone else here like birdwatching? I mean, besides checking out joe's large cock. (Plymouth Rock, perchance, Joe?) I even have an Audobon Society bird clock.
