photoperiods for veg and flower growth

I have a question about the best photoperiods for veg and flower growth times.

I know that longer days are needed for veg and longer nights are needed for flowering but what is the best timing for both. Would 17 hours night and 7 hours light be good for budding or not. If not what is the best times for budding 12/12? or can more dark and less light be introduced?

play with the light cycles at your own peril, decreasing light gives the plant less energy to grow, too much effects the proper amount of the hormone that is needed to trigger optimum flowering growth(hormone is made in the dark)

Everyone has there own thought. A plant at 24/0. Your human right? U need a rest here and then? Everything does. 20/4 or 18/6. Remember, how do i perform with no sleep?

This is different depending on the strain. No matter what strain, 12-hour nights are needed to initiate and continue flowering (of course, after the appropriate veg. time). Nights shorter than this can cause the plant to revert back to the veg. stage. Days can be longer than 12-hours while flowering, but typically, it's best to go with 12/12. This keeps the plant on it's 24-hour cycle (important) and helps reduce a lot of stress.

For vegging, you can go with anything from 12/12 to 24/0. I personally am opposed to 24/0 for many reasons, but a good portion of people swear by it. I personally think that 24/0 causes lanky, unwanted growth. The absence of a dark cycle gives the plant no chance to rest (chemically and mechanically), no chance to perform the Calvin-cycle (or dark-cycle), which is when the plant actually utilizes the energy stored from the light-period. I could go on for hundreds of reasons why plants are adapted to photo-periods for a reason. But the choice is yours haha. I personally go with 18/6 during veg. and 12/12 during flowering.
