My tap water is over 8, I would kill my plants if I didn't pH my water. PH is one of the most basic things for growing, it is essential to have the proper pH...Ok bought 1 pH tester off ebay didnt work sent it back, bought a better one, and wasted money on solutions, cant calibrate the thing, digi display jumping from 1. to 9 grrrr. Lol, nope it was jumping all over the place in the 7 and 4 solutions for some reason, and about half an hour after posting this post i tried again and it worked! i put it the 7 solution and adjusted it untill it read 7.0 then i put it in the 4 solution and it read 3.5, then i rinsed it off and stuck it in my tap water and it read 6.5, so i thought my probs were over! tried it once more and it went crazy again lol. So from the one reading the 6.5 tapwater should be ok? (if it was calibrated right) Im sending it back to ebay, and am going to just hope my tap water is 6.5!LOL.... do you always give up so easily????
When you tried to calibrate the meter.... did it read 7 when you set it in the 7 solution and 4 in the 4 solution? In other words... did it calibrate?
When you are taking water readings.... the meter has to sit for more then a minute (unlike in the reference solutions). When I PH my res., I let the meter sit for 15 minutes before I take the number displayed as the accurate PH. My meter doesn't "jump" around... but it does start at a number and slowly work up or down until it stabilizes. I expect your pen meter would be the same. Leave the tip in the water for 15 minutes.... see if you get a stable number when you come back.
