PICs of my first grow Blue Mystic ... ready ?!

hi guys,

here are some pics of my first grow ever, a blue mystic from royal crown seeds...

on wednsday (1/5/2010) the plants go into the 8th week of flowering.

my idea is to put them on diet next wednsday, give it only water for 2 weeks, so i can start to harvest my 2 plants around the 18. january.

what do you think ?!

should i start the diet on wednsday, or give it more time ?

yes 2011^^ sorry , i mechanically wrote 2010 but meant 2011

i don't have a good loupe ...hmmm...


royal crown seeds says floweringtime for blue mystic is 9-11 weeks long.

harvest on 18. january would be 9 weeks into flowering... hmmm...

it's difficult to be able to stand up not to harvest it, because it's my first grow...

notice how u have about 30% reddish/brown pistals another week u should have 50% = perfect

ofc buying a cheap x25 microscope ($10) u will be able to crop at optimum time within a few hours

google for examples

ive heard they are good for stealth because they dont stink too much when flowering.is that true?

Your BM doesn't appear to be close to harvest time....without a scope, your only "tell" is gonna be when the white hairs turn color and recede back into the bud....even then, I'd wait another week to be assured that ripeness has been achieved. Patience shall be rewarded.....

sorry dude, i can not compare it with other strains ...

but u are right... the breeder says, they don't stink too much.

and my opinion is, that it is true... they don't stink like ganja... they stink a little bit like bio-trash or something for the first 5 weeks flowering... now they start smelling like strawbeery -flowering or the stem of a stawberry...

cool.they're looking good by the way,not long now.hope its a great smoke too.

yes - actually they did not really smell like ganja at all for the first weeks - they were rather smelling like sum1 forgot 2 take out the trash for a while... now their smell changed to sumthing I assume ppl call berry flavour. Not bad at all though no typical weed smell. But stealth would definetly b exaggerated...

A more important question for me would b why do ppl say harvest @ like 50% red pistals while in some threads they say like all hairs should b red...

I - or rather my mate and I - are definetly aiming for the couch-glueing high

Can anyone tell us the pros and cons of harvesting in different stages of pistal coloration? Can a plant b harvested too late since there is no obvious sign of the plant is being ready?

no where near ready, will plump and hairs will get red. All the advice on microscopes is good, it's really the most specific of the 5 indicators of ripeness (swell, trichs, glow, hairs, growth rate).

There is really no one indication of ripeness, and like anything else that ripens, there's a window, not a perfect time. Within this window many people will find their preferred ripeness point based on personal preference. Trichs (under a scope) are probably the single most telling sign, but other indicators would be hairs, swell, lack of new growth, and a glow (probably a side effect of trich changes that you would see with a scope). The hairs is the most obvious indicator when you look at them, and you can pretty much count on the majority of them turning brown by the time it's ripe. Mostly you are looking for them to brown, almost all, and the majority to have receded (curled in and shrunk up to the head of the bract/calyx). Again though, hairs are only one indicator, and the consensus seems to be that it's less precise than looking at trich's. I use a combination of all indicators to decide when to chop, and don't bother taking microscope samples till the plant looks like it's approaching ripeness.

Thanks a lot for ur answer! All my questions have been answered and I feel way more relaxed now knowing they still got time to grow. Gotta find myself cheap microscope now...
