ok, something is wrong with my plants! their stems are turning a little brownish, and the leaves have some brown spots. Especially the first leaves, the two at the bottom of the plants, are dead looking. Can anyone tell me what i need to do to revive them? They are just over 2 weeks old, and have been growing in my aerogarden. Here are the conditions my plants are living in:
5 plants, just over 2 weeks old
they received the first starter nutrients when i started them up. since then i have not given them any aerogarden nutrients.
instead, i am using foxfarms grow big 6-4-4 nutes, and gave them to my plants yesterday. one and a half tsp. after i refilled my reservoir.
i am using bottled distilled water
my lights have been on 18hrs and off 6hrs, cause i have them set to the herb/basil setting.
i bought a timer thingy from Radioshack and tried to switch the lights to 12on 12off but the damn thing won't override the aerogarden's built in timer. i am in the process of thinking of a plan b.
i had generic mylar paper stuff (poly something foil looking wrapping paper that i bought from walmart) and put it up on the back and sides of the aerogarden for a week or so.
today i took the paper off and figured my white walls in my closet would reflect enough
i raised my lamp up a notch from the very bottom cause i thought my plants might be getting burned.
i have a pH tester that reads 4.5-9.0, and dropped in one drop of pH decreaser, and now my plants have a pH level of 5.8
my fan is constantly on in my bedroom, on low speed
my air conditioner has been broken for a few days and i just got it fixed, but the temperatures in my house were so extreme that we had to stay in a hotel. im pretty sure the temp was around 120 degrees inside my house for a few days while we were gone, and there was no air circulating.
considering all these circumstances (I think i listed them all), can someone please tell me what i need to do to revive my brown spotted plants?
i have read so many threads and still havent figured out what exactly i need to do.
any advice would be greatly appreciated!
