Hi,

Can someone please diagnose my problem. I have gotten all different kind of answers but no definitive response. Someone please because this problem is progressing...

ph 6.5
mgro moisture control
CFL setup
planted late june early july

Middle leaves and LOWER leaves are like this, new growth at top is green and top of plant is green.

whats causing this? could it be a mite?

it happens to almost all of my plants so it must be something I am doing.

That is a result of the MG you are using. A MJ plant uses its lower leaves kinda of like a "bank". If it has too many nutrients it STORES the excess in the lower leaves. If the plant is starving for nutrients it TAKES them from the lower leaves. Your plant has been taking the extra nutrients in the MG soil and storing them in the lower leaves. This is burning them. Normally when you have an excess of nutrients in the soil you can flush them out. But because you have MG soil with WATER SOLUABLE chemical fertilizer in it, flushing (with more water) will probably release more nutrients into the soil making the situation worse. So i think you should just hang in there. If the top is green and healthy it will still produce for you.
But stop cutting those leaves off!!! You are robbing the "bank" when you do that. Or in this case you are taking away from the storage capacity.

Have used MGMC for about three years . . . seen your issue alot. Generally shows up around week 4-5 of grow. In my case, it seems it's a lack of N, which I've fixed by flushing, then feeding with Alaskan fish 5-1-1, in addition to bloom nutes. (I'm in flower at your plants age)

On the back of the MG bag it suggests starting to feed your MGMC plant(s) after 30 days.
MGMC uses Osmocote, if you wanna read up on what the ferts actually are and how they work.
You should know that I TP into fresh MGMC, and a bigger planter, a week or two prior to 12/12.
These steps I use stop the yellowing, necrosis and all leaf-drop, in addition to supplying adequate N to finish the grow.

so is it a lack of N or excess I'm confused
That is EXACTLY why people have problems with MG. You have no control over feeding and when a problem comes up you dont know if its too much or not enough???
You better listen to Mr Fishy if he uses that stuff. Sounds like a high maintainance pain in the ass to me. Seems a little weird feeding a flowering plant nitrogen too.
How about a pic of your WHOLE plant so we can see how bad it is. You may just want to leave it alone if its not that bad.

Hey dude, Ive had the same problem as you with my MG, what i have done, because i like using MG, is i let the soil dry out dang near completely before i water it, then i will use about 2 cups of water, it dries out faster and you have to water a bit more but it doesnt release all the nutes at once in the MG. Like the one guy said those bottom leaves are taking all the excess nutes, just dont trim them and dont over water....DO NOT FLUSH. and you will be on your way

Hey Minnistoner that sounds about right. Most people over water their plants bigtime. In MG soil water is like a catalyst for the ferts. Too much water= too much ferts. It makes sense that the secret to using MG is to be cheesy with the water.
I'd rather use something that theres no secret to though LOL.

thanks guys....what soil should i use next time? any suggestions.

also please help with this little plant, its blackjack from nirvana and i dont want to lose it.

this plant was planted in regular potting soil with no added nutrients, it was cheap at home depot.

i added mgro single ferts (i know it sucks) which has 24-12-10....

the plant is really greenish yellow and I dont know if its OVER fert or UNDER.

what should i do, attached pic

OOOOO Blackjack! I wanna try me some of that!
That pic is too small.
But MJ plants generally dont require any feeding for the first 3-4 weeks so....if you fed it it probably didn't like that.
People have a lot better results with the MG Organic. Its a little easier to use. Organic is only way to go in my book. But i still would not use MG, even the organic.(Not because of the results but i dont support MG period.)
A plant will use up all the chemical fertilizer molecules available before it goes after the natural organic based compounds. This is just the laws of chemisrty and physics.
Thats why chemical fertilizer (in the right amounts) works so good. but the bad part is too much will "burn" your plants.
With organics, its hard to "burn" a plant. Because the plant can take only what it needs and leave the rest.

If you want a MJ soil mix that is ready to go (you should always add some perlite), get some Fox Farms Ocean Forest. That seems to be the most popular stuff.
The best way to go is build your own soil mix. Start with any cheap potting soil and add perlite , vermuclite, worm castings, bone meal, bat guano, etc...to it. Worm castings is where its at. There are recipes all over the place for slammin MJ soil mixes.
They look like this>
1 Bale sunshine mix #2 or promix (3.8 cu ft)
8 cups Bone Meal - phosphorus source
4 cups Blood Meal - nitrogen source
1 1/3 cups Epsom salts - magnesium source
3-4 cups dolomite lime -calcium source & pH buffering
1 tsp fritted trace elements
4 cups kelp meal.
9kg (25 lbs) bag pure worm castings

- Mix thoroughly, moisten, and let sit 1-2 weeks before use.

Guys things are getting worse. Middle leaves continue to become more spotted yellow then full yellow and 2 of the plants are a bright green.

I have flushed most of the plants and even after the flushing they still present this way.

Im thinking i may have a fungus? The bottom and tips of the leaves are crinkly and break easily very dry.

Ill post the same pics because its the same problem just worse.

Please help dont wanna lose all 5 plants.

I'm sorry man, I think those plants are toast. You need to take what you've learned and start over. We already know what happened to them. Its not a fungus. MG happened to them. Do you have more pictures of your young ones? Are then having trouble still too? I mean what do you want to know?
"??????????" is kinda of vague.
The way i see it you have 3 choices to grow MJ in soil.
1) Use a basic planting mix with no fertilizer and feed the plant on a proper schedule all throughout the grow, according to the directions on your fertilizer of choice.
2) Use a very rich organic soil, and just water them. (this is what I do)
3) Use MG soil which will feed your plant for the 1st few weeks and then try to pick up feeding where the MG leaves off. < this is a shitty idea that leaves too much room for error.
