pinching bud tops make massive buds

i read somwhere that pinching the tops of growing budsites makes the bud get really huge, has anyone else heard this, i currently have 4 plants going at the moment, A.M.S, super skunk, strawberry haze (which smells so much like strawberrys is fucking insane) and blueberry. but as i was getting stoned and looking at the babies i suddenly realized how much bigger and denser the blueberry buds were than all the rest and i remembered that when it was just starting to flower, i had pinched the tops of all the bud sites so see if it would make a difference, and forgot. but as they are all different strains, theres no way for me to tell for sure. but they are at least twice as large as all the others.. Anybody else hear or try this..??

I've not heard of it...sounds interesting though!

It basically damages the tips and shoots the growth hormone back down the stem.
Doesnt make them huge though but will increase their size a lil bit and stop them from incresing in height for a week or so

Yes....this is a technique that has been around for awhile....not too many people know about it for some reason, hopefully I'm here to change that.

About 3 weeks into the bud cycle, you simply pinch about 1/16 of an inch off the tip of the bud(s). Grow out your thumb and middle (or index) finger nails to pinch the buds with. It kind of needs to be a blunt trauma, so don't use scissors or clippers. If you have a lot of plants, keep a bottle of rubbing alcohol and some cotton swabs to clean the accumulation of resin on your fingernails.

The trick is to pinch the tips off of EVERY SINGLE bud site. This means, anywhere a little nugget is forming off the main branch...every single bud site....needs to be pinched in this manner.

This is a VERY labor intensive process, as you can imagine...especially if you are doing a "tree style" grow.

Repeat this same pinching process about every two weeks....and your buds will get absolutely MASSIVE. The pictures you see of HUGE, FAT buds on websites and in magazines have been pinched...I can almost guarantee it.

A product used by alot of professionals, that not many people know about is called "Pot O' Gold"....made by a company called HydRx. You might be able to buy it at your local hydro shop....if not, you can order it online. I don't know, scientifically what this product does, but I believe it makes your plants drink more water....or perhaps it makes the water more usable by the plant. EITHER WAY....it works...and it makes plants, and buds grow much faster, and larger. It is a trusted product by the pros, and simply mixes with your current fert/water regimine.

.....Also, I forgot to mention.....this technique seems to constantly be confused with "topping".....which is simply a way of pinching/cutting off the top of your plant to place more emphasis on lower plant growth.

Don't pinch or cut off your entire buds, unless you want to stunt vertical growth.

So.....start pinchin'......even if you are at a later point than the recommended 3 week starting point, go pinch those sluts.

Just a tiny pinch....about 1/16th to 1/8th inch....its kind of hard to explain (or even photograph)...mostly you are just nipping the top calyxes of each bud. Kind of like you said....you are more or less "smashing" the very tip of each bud. A very blunt trauma. And as you can imagine, as the bud starts getting huge, it becomes a little more difficult to determine where to pinch. Just choose a group of calyxes in the exact middle of each bud, and pinch.

It's good to wait a couple weeks between each pinching, because by that time the buds will form new "pointy" tips.

Just start real small..basically just smashing the very tip of the bud......if you don't really see any difference in a couple weeks, pinch a little deeper.

You can stop pinching a couple weeks before harvest....at this point the buds will look like huge masses of tumors.

What strains are you growing right now? Are you doing a tree-style grow, sog, soil...etc?

Another thing I need to make more clear on this process......each bud (the top kola) and all others look like one big bud, but are actually made up of tons of little buds that are coming off of the main branch. They are just clustered together so tight that it looks like one bud.

It's important to work your way down, pinching each little cluster tip that forms the complete bud mass. THIS is the key to doing this correctly.

Some people who have tried this technique and not been happy with the results probably just pinched the "tip" of each bud "mass" on their plants (essentially only pinching one of the bud clusters) and not gotten results. You have to methodically pinch each and every cluster of bud that is attached to the stem.

wow this sounds really awesome, so after you pinch all the bud sites tops off can you smoke that bud? like just pick off the pistils or are they smokeable?

I thought pinching and topping were both common knowledge. It's best not to do it to all of your harvest. Sometimes pinching can stress a plant and hermi it out. I'm just giving you the heads up.

Some people say that the gains with topping and pinching is no different than without doing it. I personally think it varies with strains and environment. In any case if you want to do it just do it to a few plants not all of them.

Ok so im gonna try this today, but no one still answered, with the tops that you pinch off, is that bud smokeable? Do you have to remove the white pistils or are the pistils smoke-able?

I’ve done it bro and I’m a rookie and it works! I cut a small piece of the tops every 2 weeks until the last 2 weeks then I stopped and I had some nice clusters. Lots of ppl are talking but fk up doing it and ruin their crops but done right you will get what your getting fat nugs
