How the fuck do i transplant seedlings from their cups to bigger pots, every god damn one i have done has been a mess, ive cut the cup open but thats a fuckin mess, ive tipped them on their side using my hand as a backstop to let them slide out of the cups, but that turns out to be a fuckin mess, soil starts rolling out of the cup and toppling over the top of the seedlings and when i do get them out of the cup that way, all the soil falls out and im left with a little soil with some dangling roots, im basically holding the little plant cause all the soil has fallen out, ive tried keeping the soil dry, wet, moderately moist, give me some help its pissing me the fuck off everytime ive done this it happens. how do you transplant easy and how do make them soil all slide out of the cup nicely in the cup shape without it all crumbling off. FUCK!

sounds like their not yet ready to be transplanted, if they're ready you should be able to give the cups a light squeze on the sides than flip it over into your hand, the roots should keep everything together for you, the top layer of dirst still may crumble up and fall but the root system should all be intacked with the rest of the dirt, if it falls apart when you try thid its likly the roots arent big enough yet, give them a few more dayts or a week
I like to slightly moisten the soil as well.

well usually the roots will hold the soil together so theres minimal mess,,,,you should put ya hand over the top of the cup so the plants sticking through the gap inbetween ya fingers and slowly slide it out,,you may need to squeeze the cup gently to help the whole thing come out easily,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,peace

i agree with the dude who said to wait longer man when i transplant i just grab the base of the stock hold the pot down and lift and it all comes out in a nice litte pakage alot of people like to do it sooner to prevent the plants from becoming root bound but i find my way easier and dont find it to stress them as much as being flipped around etc. but to each his own i suppose

aight that helps alot i didnt think that would be a good idea to let them sit in the cups that long. I only ever keep mine in for a week and half at most but i suppose ill have to keep em in for a month. should i be packing the soil down when i plant the seeds or let it sit loose?

Very lightly tamp the soil down.

aight and how bout the cups, would it be better to use plastics rather than smaller styrofoam for friction reasons? or does styrofoam work good too?

Here are a few tips for transplanting from starter cups:

Do it when your soil is bone dry- it will come out of the cup easier and won't fall apart on you. Also, waiting long enough so the rootball fills the cup up or most of it helps.I find that 10-14 days is usually about the right time to transplant. You can wait longer but I like to do it before the tap hits bottom.

Full transplant demo coming soon in my journal! Heh.

"pissed off, give me help transplanting"......

maybe instead of demanding help you could ask nicely.....

but yeah, like the nice people who replied earlier, you need to give them more time....

thats about how long i wait, 10 or 11 days and and ive used clear cups so i can see where the roots are, normally in about a week that tap hits the bottom and swindles around, in 10 oz cups, then i wait a few days and have the problem of all my soil falling off the roots when it comes out the cups.

I use 16 oz. colored party cups. So how wet was the soil when they all fell apart? It had to be pretty wet...

yeah the first couple times i kept it moist, then tried dry, then completely soaked as if I were flushing em, i figured wet would work best cause the soil would stick together nice but it makes sense to wait till roots fill the cup and keep it dry and light.
