We used to go backpacking up into the Sespe wilderness area above Fillmore. It was an excuse to go get stoned and drunk away from home for a weekend, always hoping some girls would show up.

When the Hellfire missiles for our Apaches got to a certain age they were transfered to the gunnery ammo Depot and we would go out to the helicopter range and watch them shoot them off. It was pretty boring since the targets were old rusty tanks and with no fuel or ammo on board there was no exciting Michael Bay movie explosions with lots of fire. Just a thump and a bunch of Texas dust in a poof.
