Planning new grow first timer

Howdy!
This is my first post, as I have previously been reading only. I plan on starting an indoor project of 6 plants, using soil. I am buying all the equipment I need, and plan to use HID lights. I see systems on the internet such as, http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-AgroStar-Ultimate-400-Watt-HPS-&-MH-System.asp, which house both HPS and MH lights. Are these suggested? Or is it too easy to be true? :-?

I also plan on hanging mylar sheets around the garden, because the room is rather big and the painted walls will surely not reflect enough of the light. I also need to buy the soil, food for the plants. I am receiving clones from a trusted friend, however, so seeds and sprouting are not an issue.

In summary, I could use ANY helpful tips and I am nervous but excited. Please point out to me the equipment I should buy, money is most DEFINITELY an issue, as it is with all of us so please help me save money!

Thanks for your time,
Papa :joint:

the light is ok
i woul ratther use a grow tent 1 square meter ...

if you use soil will not need nutrients the first 2-3 weeks
after that you will need some fertilizer with high amounts of N for the grow and one with more PK to bloom

good luck

Well since you said money is a issue i suggest CFL's a guy on here pointed me to some and i will to you as well. you can also build your own cab for cheap using 2 x 4's and some plywood and you can make it as big or as small as you want it. thats my suggestion and here is the link for the CFL's

i dont know why your link didnt work for me, but i would go on ebay, and get a 400w hps for 130 bucks...bulb, wing reflector, electronic ballast all included. you can veg with HPS and you can flower with MH if money is an issue...i would also get 3 gal pots...some sort of goood soil, like MG or FFOF or pro mix. any decent soil will work for you for 3-4 weeks without feeding. MG would probably go as far as half the grow before you would need to fertilize. also snsei grow A and B or fox farms liquid trio are good veg. fertilizers. sensi bloom Aand B and fox farms soluble trio are great bllom ferts as well...a bit pricey that fox farms, but it is well worth it. some of the best shit out there...sensi is also some of the best shit out there for the price. it is a lot cheaper then buying the whole fox farms line-up. you'd spend somewhere between 150-200 bucks for their whole line-up probably, where as sensi bloom and grow would run you closer to 100. get yourself a decent ppm meter ( blue lab pen) and PH tester, with soultion and your reaDY TO GROW!

So are the units that are switchable between HPS and MH not worth it? Or should I find such a unit but purchase it used?
