Planning To Keep Growth Short... Advice Required

i have not started...i'm in the germinating process... but i noticed people saying the gene of the seeds are important when it comes to height... also lighting... truthfully, i'm just using bagseeds and want to keep the plants short... so lighting may leave me defenseless since the gene of the seed might want the plant to grow tall.... is there anything else i can do besides pruning... i noticed ODGROP bent his plants... is bending the plants a process used instead of pruning?

Absolutely! The genetics of the strain I grow crest at about 4' indoors. I have trained them in the beginning to grow horizontal and then topped them a couple times and continued to grow them horizontal keeping height to 18" with an excellent yield. It is a combination of those things that will make your grow successful. You are not a slave to genetics. I hope that helps.

I've also found that along with training you can do your part by keeping the lights close. The closers the lights are, the less the plants have to reach for the light.

when you say train... what exactly do you mean by training? topping it off and lights only? or is there more to it

training is pulling the main stem and such down and then they start to grow back up. So basically the plant goes up and bends horizontally then grows back toward the light. That way your plant can grow sideways, saving vertical room for lights and such.

Here is a pic of what they look like when you train them horizontally. I place a bamboo stake next to the main stem and use a zip tie to keep it in place so that as I train it over horizontally it doesn't pull the root mass around. It is best to start when they are young as the stems are more flexible then.
