Plant already harvested, will it regrow

A female plant was grown in hydro and just harvested. For the hell of it I wanted to see how resilient cannabis was, so I planted it outside on the edge of our woods. It's not in direct sun, only about a foot tall, and had a few small leaves left. The plant is directly in the ground. Roots were quite abundant though. I was curious as to what would happen, without any user intervention. Will the plant survive at all? What happens in the winter? Will it come back at some point on its own?

This is in a New York weather environment.

I don't want any law troubles, so if it does grow at some point, I'll most likely just mow it over, or dig it up. This was aurora indica strain.

It's harvested but you can still plant it? You kept a few remaining colas on or something?

Hydro roots will have a tough time in soil but can adapt if the roots are healthy enough. It will probably die in the next couple weeks. Left in an area with full sun/good soil you might get it to last until winter but nothing would be produced in that time, it will halt growth. It will die once frost hits and it won't come back next season, any seeds it may produce will freeze and die also.

Yea, it will thaw and freeze and rot and die outside though so it won't come back on its own from seed next year. In case that was his concern about it being perennial in some way

isnt that what most flowers with seeds outside do before they germinate later ?

My buddy left his plants in the ground after cutting the buds from a spring crop. They were reveging already, and they did continue to grow all summer. Pretty funky looking, but they will make something. That said, we are in NW Florida, and it was going from Spring into Summer. Wouldn't think it would work up north going into fall and winter.

Days are getting shorter already...if it does start growing again, it will go straight into flower and give you....
about a pound.

I've never tried an outdoor reveg. But I'm currently on round two with my plant from last run.

Benefits of the reveg is that they've already got a root system and structure to supply nutrients. There's no sexing required. And you know exactly how the plant is going to grow. And what it's feed requirements are. Or at least a better idea.

From seed gives you an idea of what to do. But there's always room for genetic variation. Per example a more Sativa pheno over a more indica pheno. Reveg means it is what it is. No surprises.

Ive had one in the ground for the last 7 years....

Thanks, I guess the concensus is that it'll just die off. I guess I'll just leave it there and see if miracles happen next year.

when I reveg I notice a rotten pile of dead roots beneath the few twigs I leave. This rotting matter attracts all kinds of issues.
I started to remove a large mass of roots when I did it. I dont bother anymore, I try to remember to clone while in veg
