Plant is stretching way too much

And yet you’ve never heard of Shantibaba? Half of the operation?
Of course.
He is 10 years late to the indoor growing party. And what is he known to have bred himself, aside from white widow? A fine strain.

Just because his name is on a business doesnt mean the business is breeding good strains. He was a good breeder, but he stopped... and the business under his name is just pollen chucking...

I like the white widow descendant white russian. Love it. Potent and yields huge for a sativa dom. Best part though is it is stable, properly bred. I have only ever seen about 4 phenos from about 120+ white russian seeds that i have popped.

For those (not this ^^guy) who actually want to know and appreciate how we got here read up. Ignorance is not an endearing trait. A little respect doesn’t hurt either. Like he bred White Rhino and more.

You people are buying from pop up breeders, getting hermies and beans that don’t pop. Go for it. Keeps us interested here on RIU. Dutch Passion is another longtime breeder of a lot of stable strains if you want pot and not drama.

Sorry if sounded disrespectful. It wasnt intended...

And just to be clear... i didnt mean to suggest that southern BC was the inventor of modern weed strains. My point there is that southern BC did in fact pioneer indoor growing, on a fairly large scale. While Mel Frank may have wrote the book on it, it was southern BC growers that took to it on a large scale and began to refine it through the 70s and early 80s. To do that... it was necessary to develop a strain that would do well indoors, which turned out to be NL, an afghan strain that came from high altitude and harsh conditions and was therefore quite resilient.
That was ground zero, the start. Dont mean to diminish all that happened afterward.

As a further point of interest, by the late 80s souther BC was indoor growing on such a scale that it was unoficially considered the province's 3rd largest export. They were supplying most of western canada and the north west US with top shelf hydro. Then the Hells Angels got involved and by the early 90s southern BC was supplying the entire west coast of north america, part of central US and had limited supply networks all the way to New York. By the mid 90s southern BC was said, by police authorities, that BC hydro accounted for about 4 billion in exports. While we know how police tend to exaggerate dollar amounts we also know their stats come from busts and that they were only confiscating a small fraction of exports to the US. So the 4 bil estimate was probably not far off.

And this is why Canada moved to legalize weed. Big business saw a multi billion industry and they took it over, plain and simple.
