Plant looks unhappy, leaves curly and yellow? (pics)

She's a 16 day old indica. I've been using multi purpose compost and waiting for the right moment to start using nutes.
I didn't think it would be this soon.
I also water every other day when the top soil is dry.
The plant has been growing in a cupboard with not much air. Is it possible she is lacking CO2?
I've made a yeast/sugar thing and it's now feeding CO2 to the plant, is there anything else it could be other than Nutes and CO2?
It was green and happy until about 4 days ago.

No. Plenty of CO2 in the air to grow one MJ plant, not a factor you need to consider, you can stop with the yeast.

It just looks cold and wet. I would put it in a large pot and then let it dry some more (not just the top layer) so it makes some effort to grow roots.

Looks overwatered to me. Dry soil on top means nothing. With good airflow, that soil on top might dry out in a matter of hours. You've gotta learn to determine when to water by lifting up the pot and feeling its heft. If it feels heavy, don't water. If it feels significantly lighter than right after you water, give it a drink.

It`s overwatered for sure if you`re watering every second day mate. Let the roots search, gets those leaves shooting towards your light. I let my plants at a similar stage in growth go 4-5 days without water. Check my sig, healthy and loving being a little deprived ... for now ;)

Okay dokey. It's true, the top soil does dry quickly but I thought 2 days would be enough time for it to drink.
So, I'm crap at judging weight. I guess if I weigh it now and weigh it after 4 days of no water, then I'll have some sort of idea.
So if my watering cycle improves, will those leaves become green again?

Hey man...

The very bottom leaves may fall off, but the leaves look pretty good. Color will improve once the plant starts growing again.

If you're not good at judging wet/dry weight, then you may want to consider getting yourself a moisture meter. It will show you the level of moisture in the root zone... and whether or not its time to water.

You can prevent this problem by giving the plant better drainage... add more perlite to your soil. You can add hydrogen peroxide to your water to increase oxygen at the root level. ONLY use hydrogen peroxide if you haven't added myco to your soil, it will kill alll bacteria in the soil.

Like these other growers said before... let your plants dry-out between waterings, this allows the roots to grow, so letting them search for water is better for your plants over-all health and root development.

Good luck with your present and future grows.

Leaves that have been through trauma and stress might not come back but none of your leaves appear to be this way. She`ll perk up as soon as you let her start fearing for water. Just think, when the roots shoot down for water, the plant vertically gains momentum. Good for growth and good strong roots to keep them hunting, not keep them sitting around waiting for more because they know it`s coming. You`re fine though, update us in a week (only should have 1, maybe 2 waterings in that time). Best of luck onward,

I was actually thinking of not watering for at least a week, based on what people are saying.
I got myself a moisture meter (with the 2 long prongs)
If stabbed in to the soil against the side of the pot all the way to the bottom, what % should I let it get to before watering again?

What do you mean plant looks "Unhappy"? Looks great to me.

It's green, it's growing, it's good.

Seriously don't conjure up problems, you don't have one.

F a moisture meter man, seriously. Had so many so grows I can`t count them and never used a meter. You have to get good at weighing it out until you know the strain, and what it likes. You want pretty much the whole medium to be almost dry to keep the roots searching, but I know my strains well and what they need for water and when they need it.

Next water (whenever you see fit, your plants). Lift the buckets as you go working around and wait for the run-off to start. Get a good feel for that and check every other day. With as much medium as you have there, I`d be surprised if you`re watering more than twice a week (probably one good soaking weekly for now).

But, also see direct above ..

Well, I weighed it yesterday and weighed it today.
It went from 475g to 425g in 24 hours. I threw a little rice in the soil to help dry it out.
2 of the leaves are very yellow now, they probably won't make it.
You live you learn eh?

It now weighs 364g and the moisture level is 3 out of 10. The soil is dry for about 2 inches.
That means it's lost nearly a third of its weight in 3 days! I guess it was water logged.
How long should I wait before watering again?

If you`re going by meter from this point forward, when you hit about 2-3 / 10. Use your best judgement, and you`ll be able to tell when they`re consuming more eventually. Try not to overthink it, ultimately it`s a flower brother :)

Cool beans. I'll water at 2. A heavy watering I guess, but empty the tray if there is drainage.
On the upside, no bugs yet?

Water until you see drainage then give it a good sifting almost back and fourth for a couple minutes until it stops. Put it down, set and forrget it for a few days :)

Now you`re talking optimism !! Keep it up bud, don`t second your instincts :)

Actually I think your plant looks fine, for now but it wont be for long if you keep it in multi purpose peat based compost, roots need oxygen and they get it with properly mixed compost, the plant looks as if its due a pot up soon anyway so try and get some compost designed for marijuana use, also much truth is the advice above, only water when the soil has dried out a bit, a small fan offset to provide an imitation of a very light breeze is always a good idea. as for feeding let the plant settle into a new pot with fresh soil for a week or so before commencing any feeding, this allows the roots to fill out and search within its new pot and feed off the natural nutrients in the soil for a bit before taking advantage of any extras provided by the grower, good luck, remember to post again and tell us how things turn out.
