Plant Sexing

Hello. I'm starting a new grow. I germinated six seeds yesterday and they are starting to sprout roots. I will plant them in cups tomorrow and put them under light. Can I put them under 12/12 lighting from the beginning and wait for them to show sex and then put them under 18/6 and transplant the females? Thanks.

You can, but it's a big waste of time actually. You have to wait for the plants to show their sex, which under 12/12 could be weeks or months even, then revert them back to veg state, then back to flower. All that really does is stress the plants, waste time, lighting, energy, and could very well stunt the plants bigtime. You're better off just doing a short veg time, say 4-6 weeks, then just go 12/12 and pick out the males.
