And that will just get you started. Further, if you go that route, those lights need to be no further than 6" from your plants at all times, preferably 3-4" if temperature allows. But there you're getting into the environment thing I mentioned before.

Thanks everybody. I am now working to fix these bad plants. I built myself a reflecter box (?) with cardboard and aluminum foil to help reflect the light. I think that I started germinating my plants waaaaaaay too early this year to plant them outside. Like I sated before, this is my first grow, and I am learning, so if I murder these, they will help others down the road. Thanks for your advice (even the ones who said to whack them). If I can experiment with these, then maybe the next ones will be better. I plan on putting them outside as soon as we can get 13hrs of sunlight this year which is around the end of April where I am.

what kind of bulbs are you using? no still the flood lights right?

if you cant afford these lights then you should go to home depot and get some 26 or 42 watters,

6500k tho or most of them say daylight

I got a GE portable heat/stage light 250 watt 720 lumin and a GE 75 watt 425 lumin softlight plus a 100 watt cfl ge light and 2 60 watt cfl ge lights that are in my ceiling outlet.

You need the right type of light, not just lumens. Get either T-5 fluorescents or metal halide for veg, and high pressure sodium for flowering. You need at least 50 watts/square foot of canopy. That heat lamp is absolutely useless for growing pot, unless you just want your plants to streeeettttccchhhh.

As for your rude comment, I have a hard time with reading comprehension, so if it aggravates you to read my posts, then bug off and don't open my threads. Secondly, you are a rude minority. Classy growers on here are all about helping those like me who don't have the greatest understanding and/or education. I've read most of this stuff, but I learn from one-on-one comments better. I hate it for you that you don't like it, but life, especially mine, doesn't revolve around you.

Okay, here is what I did to help out my plants. I built me a reflector box (if that's waht you call it) out of cardboard and aluminum foil and covered the top with aluminum foil so that the most reflexive side faces the plants. My space is roughly 5' long 3' high and 2' tall. I got two 60watt Sylvania cfls and hung them through the top foil about6" off the top of the plants. I also bought a 120 watt Sylvania spot-gro blue light and a 65 watt Sylvania spot-gro blue lightand placed them where the light covers all of the plants and reflects evenly. Hopefully, this will help those pitiful plants thicken up and veg out.

good job on the cfl lights.

question: are they actually 60 watts, or are they 60 watt equivalent?

either way, you will need MORE lights to keep those plants alive, healthy, and un-stretched until april. by month 3 of growth under decent lights, those will be 2-4 feet tall depending on strain. then they will become monsters in the outdoor sunlight.

just go to home depot and tell them you need grow lights for starting your tomato plants this year, and buy some tomato seeds and bigger pots to replant your seedlings. or better yet, a garden store or indoor gardening shop.

bad idea.

if you simply try to keep them alive, they will not be able to survive outside in the wind and rain and sun. you need to make them HEALTHY and STRONG.

the only way to do this is with the proper set up. you told me in your PM that you have a fan blowing over them. this is good.

you also told me that you re-buried them up to the first set of leaves. that is good for now, but it is only a stopgap measure. they will become long and spindly and weak again unless you get them under a LOT of light.

you will need approximately 300 or more watts of CFLs (actual watts, not equivalent watts) to keep as many plants as you have from stretching...for now.

once they get bigger, there is more plant to light, so you will need more lights.

incandescent lights are useless. halogen is useless. heat lamps are useless. the plant does not see the same thing you do.

get CFL lights at the very minimum. better yet, search craigslist for a cheap metal halide or high pressure sodium light, at least 150 or more watts. you can find them real cheap if you search for 'high bay' lights.

keep us updated.

high pressure sodium lamp or metal halide. At first you can get away with just flourescent tubes but you need to be right on the plants. Both hps and metal halide you really need to be careful not to get to close, they will burn your plants instantly. Go online and search for hps and metal halide, there not cheap. I mean this with no disrespect but your plants are in trouble. Might be worth starting over with the correct lights.

wow!! the spotlights have to go ..get some mh/hps lights..instead of throwing away your plants ,re-plant them and bury them until just the tops stick out..they will start to grow again in a couple of weeks the right way...
