Planting fresh seeds?

So I got a question and I’ve read that fresh seeds don’t germinate very well. Is this true? If so anyone have any techniques to help with better germination of fresh seeds. Only asking because I’m wanting to experiment with some homemade seeds this spring outside.

If they are sticky from the buds, let dry, or rub them in your fingers

My freshies usually do just fine

Thanks bob either way I’m going to play with them I just want to get some for sight before I begin. It will be my first outdoor grow so I don’t expect much just a fun and informative experience
