hi!, i live in minnesota and am planning oj growing a few auto #1 's , they are supposed to be very hardy for cold weather, anyways i want to start them inside for about 2 weeks and then put them in a small closet sized greenhouse out in the woods begginging of april to mid april, the highs would be in 50's and lows in 40's do you think they will be okay if i start them indoors and have healthy young plants first, or do i just need to wait until later in the spring. can only grow them inside until they start looking obviously like weed plants . thanks!! and help or advice is appreciated!

I would wait a little longer. I undersrand your excitement to get started but a little patience can potentially save your plants. A good healthy plant can handle some cold for a short time, but if you get a cold spell for a few days u may be screwed the greenhouse will help though. If you just cant hold off than place a bunch of good size rocks in tge green house, or even darkened bottles of water or alike.They will heat up in the day and release heat throughout the chilli nights.

You need to know the veg time of your strain so you know when to start them.

In MN would wait to plant auto's in early may so it can benefit from warmer weather and the longer sunny days leading up to and after the equinox. This would put harvest at late july. That way you may not need the green house.

The problem with an infrequently tended micro greenhouse that time of year is on a sunny day it can overheat if closed tight and later that night if you get a cold night it can freeze.
If you can open them each day when they start getting too hot and close them up in the afternoon to retain heat, it could work. But if left untended, you might experience problems.
Some people dig down a bit and make mini pit greenhouses, for better heat retention. I like your spirit, so good luck with your project.

If sited right the earth helps moderate the temperatures.
You might consider getting a couple of thermometers
which register the high and low temperatures. Put one inside your greenhouse and one outside your greenhouse and gather temperature differential data BEFORE putting your plants in the greenhouse permanently. That way you'll know if it gets to 28 degrees at night outside what the low temp is inside at night etc.

Another thing to consider, if you are just starting out. Hold some plants back or start them later than others, in case unfortunate stuff happens. like frost, dehydration or
animals or bugs eating your plants etc.
Don't put all your drugs in one basket so to speak! (that was a joke)
yes, was planning on starting just one plant early and if it doesint do well then oh well.
