people always say to put ur out door plants in pots? i disagree. when you have the plants in pots they get jacks soo easily? when there in the ground there not going to be jackeD? and when there in pots your can get "rootbound" when there in the ground they have all the soil in the world? now on the other side of the arguement. if there in pots your can move them if nesserary. but then again if you have people finding ur plants you did a bad job of picking a grow spot?

i just would like to hear what you guys think?

Well I start my plants in pots and then once I know they will be fine growing there I dig a hole and mix some soil and then I put em in. I usually wait til I know sex.

putting a plant in the earth is what the plant wants......it's amazing how fast they grow in the ground!!!....pots are good to because you can stash them....but the ground is the way to go!!!!

depending on the soil ,if you can dig a hole then dig it.i have grown in pots before and there a pain in the ass sometimes-the wind blows them over, the soil drys faster compared to holes in the ground.you can see them.if you grow in your backyard and you use like plastic tubs that holds lots of soil and tend to your plants everyday then that will work but for someone that checks them once a week or less better off in ground

Where flooding is a problem pots on a cinder block are the solution. Where there are control burns, plants in the ground are finished and pots solve that problem. They have mobility. If none of these are problems then the ground is the best bet. Most of the time, its easier to go from pot to ground, rather than ground to pot. Plus fdd manages to grow monstrosities in a pot. I couldnt do that though. Not only that, but you can strap pots to a tree, 20 feet high! lol jk:leaf:

Thieves don't steal the bottom, they steal the top. If you want a bigger plant, then use a bigger pot. You can get any size you want to.... I have actually seen a 1400Gallon pot (yes, it's friggin huge).

I do both, in ground and in pots. I usually dig a hole and put the pot in a couple inches above ground to secure it from toppling over. they don't dry out as fast either. I do prefer a large pot 20 gallon minimumn

in the ground is better in for blending in and harder to steal if the stalk is the size of a two litre. Go try and rip a tree that big out of the ground. you have to hack it down

Just to comment on planting in ground as a security measure; my buddies and I gather round a hookah and share stories. One guy was telling me a story of how he got locked up. He was walking home from his high school, and he knew of this old lady that was growing a few 5ft plants berried in the ground. He hopped the fence and ran to the tree and with about 4-5 pulls he was able to uproot part of the plant and snap it at its base. The lady came out screaming so he jetted. He made a wrong turn and as his luck would have it, a police officer spotted him from his patrol car and busted him.

I think he means he can't expose himself like that with huge plants. I'm the same way. I could grow trees if I wanted, but detection is a concern and most folks don't live in weed friendly states.
