Plants are getting huge, what to do?

I vegged both these guys for close to 2 months and they're currently kicking it in 5 gallon pots. The plant on the right is northern lights and the one on the left is big bud. They're in there second week of flowering now, but just how big are these things going to get? The northern lights plant is standing close to 6ft now, surely growth will slow soon as the plants start budding right?

Also, how much do you think these plants will yield? I'm currently running a 400W HPS.

You could do some suoercropping, or even try some LST, but LST might not work too well at this point, but I'd surely be doing so nice super cropping for sure ..
And yes, they should stop growing vertical just about now, usually ime for indica dominant plants, about 2 or 3 weeks into flower or so is when they stop getting taller..
As far as yield, super hard to judge, an oz per gallon of container size sounds nice though IMO..

Yeah bend them or super crop them when I grew northern lights big bud they got quite tall when left up pruned and stretched until the 4th week.

Is it too late to super crop? I thought that was done during veg only? I hope I can get a yield like that! It's only my first grow.

I would fold those bitches in almost half. Then support them so they don't flop over completely.
If I didn't tie them in half and just let them grow would there be a risk of the plant flopping over without support when budding?

Is there any way you can get a 1,000 watt light in there? If you do, you will have good buds in 2 months but its so tall that the 400 will only give you good buds on the top 20-25% of the plant.

If you are planning on selling any of this, you can cover the cost of the 1000w plus some, giving you the light for free.

Nope,,,,go for it! As far as light penetration and bud quality goes.....watch the trics, harvest the upper buds as needed and give the lower ones time to finish for a more uniform quality finish.

Nope, I didn't want to risk it seeing as it's my first grow. I'll definitely be doing it next time though -_-.

There's no way I could get a 1000W in there man. I was originally running a 600W and even that would send the temps soaring into the 30's without an A/C :(. The dimensions of the grow tent are 1.2x1.2x2.0mOnly to a few close friends, the rest is for my personal stash. Getting tired of spending $100 on Q's.

Great idea! Thanks dude.

I like/need tall plants for my grow. Yours are very nice I would be happy.

Give them another week and they will quit stretching. You may have to tie them over a little because you don't want your top bud hitting the light and burning all to hell.

You have sort of boxed yourself into a corner by vegging them that long! But they look very healthy and you should get some very nice bud if you can finish them okay. At some point when you run out of space to raise the light you will have to start bending them over or the top buds will burn. Your bottom buds will likely mature a little more slowly from lower light so consider a staged chop, leaving the bottom in longer and dropping the lights back down.
Enjoy!

Bend/fold any tops at 1 foot below the bulb, then use wire and skewers to support the bent tops.

Consider how you will wire them BEFORE bending, so you don't need to wiggle the bend/fold too much. Folding the stem doesn't cause any slowdown in growth, believe it or not, although in might be a bot unattractive, you'll get much thicker cola formation when the tops are horizontal and parallel to the bulb.

you only need to bend them to a 90o angle, then wire them to form a kind of upside-down "L".

You will need to plan your grow better you silly old prick, simple as that
Agree, but this is his first grow, so we can't be too hard on him, as he's doing not so bad
Dr. Jekyll

Got to agree BUDS, the silly old prick didn't put much thought into his environment and now he has to deal with it.

You can totally top that plant if you want too! I've topped flowering plants 4 weeks into flowering with FANTASTIC results! If you cut that girl in half, you would be AMAZED what can happen! You have plenty of time left to have fun with this!

If you don't cut her, you will fight this girl all the way to the end. A Sativa stretch with an Indica...interesting. As someone else pointed out, don't veg so long next time.

So I can literally cut the plant in half from the stem without any problems? I was under the impression the NL seeds I bought were predominantly indica so I didn't think height was going to be too much of an issue. I used regular seeds and only had 4 plants, so I vegged as long as I could to ensure I got a decent yield in the event only 1 of the plants turned out to be female.

so on ur first run u learned a few things, yes? i think the plants look good. think canopy control on ur next run and get some plant stakes for those heavy colas you're gonna need em soon. nice job.

Since you are in veg, there is no reason to let your yield suffer (which it will, unless you sort out light-penetration), "supercropping" is what I would do.

It's easy - just be careful, and your plant will get full light-intensity at more budsites (when you flower).
