Plants don't smell much :/

Hi. I have four delahaze which is a 70 percent sativa. This is is my first grow with a strain like this and since early veg they haven't really smelled much at all. When they were seedlings you could rub the leaves and they would leave a lovely citrus scent on your hands. They have undergone minor overfeeding at points and I know this can have that effect on them. The one that got burned the most (still very minor leaf tip burn) smells like an ill plant, an almost hay type smell. Above that they are still growing fine though?

Is this a sativa trait or is something else at play here?

Actually something has occurred to me. My plants are watered constantly since it's hydro. I noticed in a soil grow when the medium gets dryer that the plants smell more than compared to after a water. Maybe that has something to do with it to.

In hydro, I don't normally notice a smell until they are pretty far along into flower (3-4 weeks). However, they start to really stink after that.

Mine are 11 weeks veg and just starting to smell niceeeeee, as said tho normaly they start to get a nice smell about 2-3 weeks into flower, just keep on going and watch the flowers start to send out some nice aroma :0)

They shouldn't stink until around week 4 or 5 of flower.

they don't have noses so they can't smell much at all.....

cooler temps you will notice less smell vs higher temps. it's nothing you have done, ive noticed smells come and go throught a plants life. if you top a plant and roll that top around in between your fingas you may catch a good smell but only if your topping it already I don't suggest gust pinching tops out for fun... also when I trim up the plants skirt I take those leaves and roll them around in a ball for a nice smell. just hang in there the smell will come back

Wrong. Plants in veg could stink depending on the strain/enviroment as my GSC's do.

For my plant grows it's always the opposite.
They smell more at cooler temps such as in the early morning
or late evening.

well it is true that all plants are different so anything is possible. in my expierience higher temps more open pours greater rate of transpiration more stinkey but thats just my observations yours may be different

thanks for the input! yeah the stems smell great just not the leaves so much. it must be the strain or my nose is too used to the smell haha.
