so i planted a couple of seeds with some soil from the back yard, and after about a month none have sprouted. i have spotted multipul worms in the soil so i thought it would be fine, but i guess with georgia clay, its not good enough. would i still have time to plant a few seeds?

maybe it is a lil late. did you germinate them first? and if you do germinate them and get some good soil

it deff better and faster to germinate. and plant them taproot down. and never plant them to deep.

If its been a month its not gonna happen, get some new seeds and germ indoors then move em out once they have sprouted, good luck.

Should always start indoors for best results. I had a few in the soil this year that didn't sprout. No biggie.

good news, one has sprouted however the stem is rather weak. i rested it on a stick and gave it some water. but since im growing outdoors and i can put a fan out or adjust the lighting is there anything else i could to do strengthen the stem

once it gets so big you can GENTLY squezze the stem starting at the bottom and working your way up.....if you do this you might have to support the plant until it repairs itself...what this actually does is it sends extra help to part you squeezed....this will actually make the root bigger....one thing though i would wait until your plant is more healthy bc it sounds a lil down...some pics would be good...

just one pich at a time or you will put the plant into shock...

If you germinate your seeds first you'll have much better luck. The cheapest and easiest way to do it is to put your seeds in a wet paper towel inside a baggie. Put them someplace warm (I always set mine on a plate on top of the stove where it can get the warmth from the pilot light.) Give them a few days and if they're viable seeds, at least some of them will have taproots popping out. Then you can plant in soil.

It's worth it to get some decent soil. Even cheap Miracle Gro is way better than random dirt out of the ground, especially if there's a lot of clay in your dirt. Good aeration of the soil is important, and most commercial potting soil contains perlite or vermiculite to help with that and to control moisture so it's harder to over- or under-water your plant. Around here you can get a big bag of MG potting soil for $3.50. If you're going to plant you might as well use decent soil with some nutes.
