Plants still eaten even with Chicken Wire

So there were some plants outside this year, and even with chicken wire, whatever the animal was, slowly ate the plant. Is there something that you can wrap around the chicken wire to keep that animal out?

One of the best things to do to keep larger animals away, like deer for instance, is to take clippings of human hair and tie it up near your plant. Other than that and the chicken wire you mentioned there's not much. You could try putting up one of those solar powered electric fences. My uncle used one a while ago with pretty decent results. As for price and where to get one, I really can't help you out.

Gotta be slugs.

I grew for quite a few years and swore it was rabbits(No deer on this Island). But it was slugs.

Slug bait works great.Rain rinses it away after some time.A large salt ring around the plant works the best.

I would start out by collecting the first pee of the morning and pouring it AROUND your site. It sounds gross but it keeps deer and rabbits away.

You can purchase Wolf Urine and its sold in large bottles. Just use it around your plants and not on them and it scares any animal off but slugs....i dont think it will work!! A salt ring will work best for slugs!!

There is no way that it was a slug because the plants were already really big. They couldnt take all that down in that small amount of time. I had netting over the top, so it wasnt birds. It must have been some type of rabbit/mouse/rat. So you guys dont have any ideas about something that I could wrap around the chicken wire? Some type of material etc....?

wolf urine...

they sell it by the bottle at sites like this: http://www.predatorpee.com/

it should keep larger animals away....

you can also try setting up some trip wires, attached to party poppers like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_popper

if not, then just trip wires hooked up to a big bell... the clank should startle the animal enough that they stay away...

if it's a rabbit it may dig below the chicken wire.... so bury it a foot under the ground....

have you noticed a little tunnel, hole, or any entry point??

just a random thought but since youʻre denying everybodyʻs suggestions about what it could be it eliminated everything i thought could be wrong. this is kind of out there (and i havenʻt seen the plant) but it could be another human just wanting to piss you off. i know most people will just pull it or call the cops but there are people out there that just like to ruin peopleʻs days like that.

my suggestion is to clear the surrounding area of your plants leaves twigs and all so itʻs just bare soil. if the soil is hard loosen it up wet it so it has a muddy consistency and wait for a foot print of whatever it is thats messing up the ganja. (this was just another random thought trying to think out the box for you.

Put some chicken wire on the ground around the plant. You allready have the plant wrapped in chicken wire. Get an extension cord cut the female off and attach to the chicken wire. Make sure the chic wire is not touching eachother. Plug the thing in. A large animal will complete the circuit and they will go away. Won't kill them.
Lol almost a large bug light. Omg hook up the ballast 1k would hurt.
If it's a small ( mouse ) oh well,if it's your neighbor ,0)

its rats, mice or goffers and they will kill your plant and steal your branches during al stages of growth, get traps and nail nails upright so u make sure it kills what ever ur traping, btw tie the trap down so they dont steal that 2, they want 2 rob u for it becuase it is s easy 2 cut through, they want 2 make nest outta it if its a goffer it will create mounds in ur soil and it will chew around the trunk of your plant resulting in death, cure is 2 wrap the trunk with steal wool or some type of metal with tape or any thing a rat cannot eat through if it were rabbits u would probly see shit and little tracks, put a mice trap out thier next 2 your plant not 2 close though the traped animal can damage the plant, if u caught a possum or coon shit will get tore up u will be surprised how many mice/rats u will kill, good luck man

Do you have access to a trail camera or the cash to buy one? You really catch the culprit then.
