Plants too tall

So, my second grow was going beautifully, until I started flowering. Turns out there was a light leak that developed somehow between grows and my ladies just stayed in vegetative growth. Now they are all much too tall for my box. About a foot too tall to be precise.

My two options are to either move the plants somewhere else for the duration of flowering (not ideal, my best place will be inside a closet that will be very difficult to control the smell from), or to cut off the tops of the plants.

Advice?

Your best option of course is going to be to move them. You have to make the best choice for your situation. But if you can move them to a taller spot that would be ideal.
Topping your plant can make it bushier but it can also make the plant take longer to flower and finish.

Why not LST your plants ,, Or if you say they are too tall why not weight the main stem to one side if your worried about snapping the stems

I agree, tie them down. Also, it's normal for then plant to "stretch" a bit for the first 2-3 weeks of flower. If you flowered before the plant had preflowers, it might take longer for flowers to form.

Sorry, I should have clarified. There is no room to tie them down (and I'm well aware of how the plants behave when flowering, thanks though). The plants are taking up every square inch of space in that box, there's nowhere to go but up and into the light. I'll be moving them into my closet in the morning if the growth spurt hasn't stopped. Otherwise it's time to give my ladies a trim =/.

Have you thought about the possibility of cutting your planter-pot sized hole in the bottom of your box and putting your girl through the hole to save space?
