Until I personally buy a cob unit? I will reserve judgement. The biggest thing with the cob is the ease of consumer servicing. Not having to lose a unit for long periods of time., I am buying the optic like I said up top, but love my a51 so much I want more those too.but there not gonna be around much longer.
 
ok I guess it´s probably going to be 2 Area 51s. With those and my 400w hps in a 4x4 tent I´m hoping to get a pound at least....let´s see how it works out,

Very good move!! Freeshippin!.for buy-in 2 lights.best deal goin right now. Keep those 150s 12 to 16 inches from your canopy! For flowering! They work good for a 24 x 30 each.

I think it's a way to impress prospective buyers. It sounds like some thought and creativity went into it.

In reality, I think it's nothing more than the reality that epi-whatever doesn't make a cost- or quality-effective white diode. As higher quality lights (using Cree, Osram, Phillips) becomes more prevalent, rebranders like Platinum have to add "bands" to make it look like they're full spectrum too.

I may have said this before but COBS are a godsend.

I don't miss the burple lighting one bit.
 
I find it quite comical that PLED is selilng both grey housings and white housings and also had one of their "testers" claim the grey to have 12 band as well as PLED saying in the same thread elsewhere that the grey case will be "more than just cosmetics". Seems to me a bunch of bullshit. And when you have your sponsors spewing bullshit, it makes it even more sketchy.

I wont lie, I gave PLED a try. I also sent that shit back fairly quickly as I quickly realized every claim they made was an absolute joke and that the buds did not grow half as quick as they did under HPS. I guess if you like buds that are light and fluffy, go for a PLED (or the likes). They did produce a bit more resin than the HPS side, which is about the ONLY positive thing I will say.

It's typical LED experience. Inefficient LED over too large area. Makes it very low intensity which leads to small fluffy buds. They're more resinous because of high ratio of blue IMO (which is even higher than it seems as blue LEDs are typically best performing of generic LEDs).

Too large of area? It was only covering a 2'x2' area! It could not even cover that. Oh well, my CXB3070 are about to light it up this weekend so it should be better :D

It's crappy light then. These CXB3070's will be much better.
 
I just flowered 4 plants under a PlatinumLED P300. Definitely not enough light but I yield about 175 grams of White Widow. This was my first grow as well so definitely some mistakes and deficiencies. I built a 200w CXB3070 light to add to the tent. I'm excited to see the results, all are clones from the last grow so results with the added light should be a pretty interesting metric.

It's not just a g/w that matters. It's also g/sq ft. I've grown under a Blackstar 130 (85w actual) UFO which is a rebranded Chinese epi-whatever light. I got 1g/w. But, I was only at 21w/sq ft. So, that's 21g/sq ft.

When I added 38w of relatively efficient LED as sidelighting (which was 31w/sq ft), I got 1.2g/w and 38g/sq ft. The w/sq ft rose 33% and the yield rose 45%.

That was just one grow. And, I'm kind of mixing metaphors with light intensity. But, my point is, you need less w/sq ft with more efficient LED. He might have got 1g/w and the same g/sq ft with 30% less light if it were efficient.

But, I agree, 1g/w is good. I think it's more a testament of the grower's skill, the environment (spectrum being one factor). Nothing wrong with continuing to use that fixture. I still use my Blackstar.

Did you take any pictures from your PLed grow? I'm close to my third week of flower and would like to do a comparison with something with the same brand of lighting.

It is covering such a large area in my 6x6 grow tent I shouldn't have a problem flowering all the plants in here. It came standered with wifi control as well so im pretty pumped about that. Its comes out to 1.85 per watt can someone tell me if that is decent? I will post pics of my lights progress if anyone's interested

I also have a grow with Aeon Grow Lights and I love it. It is one of the best LED's I have ever used. I mean I know there are other capable lights out there but I havent had a problem with Aeon at all

Yes I would stay away from those brands you just mentioned but that doesnt mean there are not other good brands out there. Like Ive used Kind LED and they sucked but you dont mention those. I mean everyone has preference and has good and bad experiances
