ok so I have a 3ftx3ftx6ft grow tent. I am going to be using a 400 watt HPS light and I need some help with the fan. I only want to use one fan for exhaust and passive intake. I was figuring I would need around 170 cfms?? how this fan and carbon filter......http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=52531

also I am not too sure how to rig this up. What do I do put the ducting in the vent hole in my tent then hook the fan up to the duct work and just have it suck it through the duct?? where do I mount the fan??

+reps to all the help out

You have a 54ft^3 tent that will have a 170 cfm turbine, so your tent will have the air exchanged every 19 seconds. This is really good since the rule of thumb is to exchange the air at least once per minute.

The carbon filter and fan you have linked are good products. A buddy of mine who also grows just bought the same one from HTG and is very happy with it.

As far as setup goes, I would have both the carbon filter and the turbine fan inside the tent. On one end you would have the carbon filter, then some ducting connecting it to the turbine, then some ducting connecting the turbine to the light if it is a hood with duct connections, and then some more ducting to the top exhaust hole in the tent. In short:

carbon filter->turbine->light hood->exit

I'm not familiar with your tent so I'm not sure how you would hang the turbine, but I'm assuming you would just hang it with some rope.

Wise choice. You may have to buy a 20$ speed controller but I was going to tell you to get at least a 300cfm fan. 170 or w/e simply would not have worked unless the room the cab is in is always cold.
