Please diagnose my seedlings(details/pics)

I'm on my second grow, and my seedlings just won't go. I'm using 1" rockwool cubes, GH 3 formula nutes, and a 400w mh light. I have two strains(frost wreck and golden skunk). My seedlings have grown their first set of real leaves, some are starting on the second, but now they haven't grown in almost a week. The cotyledons have turned yellow and look like they may fall off, which didn't happen this early on my last grow. It looks kind of like over watering to me, based on photos I've seen on these forums, but I can't figure out why, or how to fix it. I was watering them(no nutes) 2-3 times a day, just keeping the rockwool moist without being soaking wet. When they first stopped growing, I tried adding a very small amount of nutes, but to no avail. Since it looked like over-watering to me, I tried going back to what I did on my first grow, which seemed to work great at this stage... I just set the rockwool cubes in about 1/3" of water(now with slight nutes), but there still hasn't been any change. I also tried moving the light down thinking maybe it wasn't getting enough. I don't have a thermometer in there right now, but it feels a comfy 70-80 degrees at plant-level. Here are a few pics... any help would be appreciated.

The close ups are of the two worst plants. Some of them are still completely green.

Good move with putting them in pure water. They do look over watered. And nute burned. You can use pure water for a little longer and then add 1/8 recommended strength. Also dont water as frequently, maybe twice to once a day. They are seedlings, the dont need much water.

Thanks, that confirms my thoughts. Should I ever allow the rockwool to dry out completely? I haven't been, because it scares me.

Well if it looks or feels completely dry on the surface than you can expect that its quite moist on the inside, but technically you never want it to completely dry out. H2o2 mixed with water could help increase the amount of watering. But you couldnt premix it.

I cut back on the water, getting the rockwool fairly damp when the light first comes on, because it dries fast, and just a little moist later in the day... I'm using straight water now, and much less of it, but they're still getting worse... one in particular looks like it's about to kick the bucket. :( I don't understand what I'm doing wrong... last time at this point my plants were shooting up.

How far is the light from the plants? Are they still burning on the tips or are they starting to yellow?

it may be that coz u started using nutes so early u might have burned the roots, u should start with soil that has enuf feed in it to see the plants through the first 3-4 weeks, u wont have to worry about adding to much nutes then, just something for u to think about.

I'm just using straight water now(no nutes)... enough to barely keep the rockwool moist. The light is about 20" from the tops of the plants. They're continuing to get worse? Anything I can do to salvage this situation?


Btw, the paperclips are just so I can tell the strains apart.

lol... and no one responds.. umm, not really.

gonna have to start over, but i would recommend atleast go buy some miracle seed starting mix.. i have has supreme results with that. but happyfrog soil is also a very rich and good organic soil for cheap.. 15$/5-10-20gallon bag.. im not sure, but whatever ur doing, is not working, it could be the water itself, u should try using reverse osmosis, or distilled water, but u need to add dolmite lime , or calmag to the water. or that will also kill ur plants, but sometimes tap water is just to hard. or too soft(salty)

I did use reverse osmosis water last time... I didn't even think of that since I switched to tap water after a couple weeks. I'll try that tonight, see if that revives them... if not, guess I'll start over.

I'm putting them from the rockwool into pots with hydroton in an ebb and flow hydro system... so can't do soil. :(

They need more water, they look to dry in that pic, keep them moist.

Um they look dryed out. i think your giving them too little water. Gotta find that balance.
