Hi guys,

this is my first grow I am growing royal gorilla automatic from royal queen seeds they are high sativa low indica strain. I’m worried about the progression of my plants I’ve just past week 6 and my plant is still small with no real signs of flowering apart from a few bud sites (pics below). I’m trying not to get too bummed out as it’s my first grow but some guys on here are smashing their first grows!! :(
I’m growing in 5 gallon fabric pots with 70/30 Pearlite, coco medium and using the general hydroponics nuts. I have a 100 watt phizion Amazon grow light in a small 4x2x2 tent. I have been phing my water and feed to 6.5. I haven’t tested any run off as I’m scared of over watering which I think was my issue at the start. Any advice on what I may have done wrong or need to do to recover the grow would be much appreciated!

They look a bit unhappy. Like over or underwatered.
The blurple light can grow some weed, but is not the optimal spectrum for your baby.

i recommend buying a HLG v2 100. That is 90 true power watts. Full spectrum Samsung diodes. H301b if i remember correctly. And run this together with your blurple Amazon light.

Ahh that’s interesting I haven’t researched much about the light spectrums I need to look into that, thanks a lot dude

Hey bud, welcome to RIU. Right off I see issues with what you are doing so let me try to help you out a bit. First off lower your ph to 6. PH of 6.5 is not allowing your plants to take in a bunch of stuff. Second thing is drain to good runoff every time. I am also in 70/30 coco/perlite and you cannot over water. Once or twice a day, once at this size, water until you get runoff. The perlite will ensure you always have O2 at the roots. Give those things a shot and I bet it will improve. Here is a PH chart, the part you want is the left side for Hydroponics. You can see with your PH you are not allowing the plants to take in a ton of stuff. I bet that is your issue.

Thanks man that is super useful I’ll defiantly start running off now and lower my ph, I’ll post updates over the next week or two!

Mars hydro is the best bang for the buck but also the Philzon is cheaper and is getting a lot of hype. Both are on Amazon. I have the 600w marshydro for veg over 2 girls but will need something stronger for flower if I want to yield a high amount.

Yeah I’ve heard they are good, I think there’s that many variables at play with feeding, environment, etc etc it’s difficult to justify buying a new light when I probably haven’t even got the feeding mastered learning curve I suppose

I recently replaced a TS600W for the TS1000W (Mars Hydro 150W) in a 2x2x4’ tent. I’m fairly confident that the 600 was sufficient to flower 4 1Gal pots but the 1000 removes all doubt. Great light with dimmer and easy setup.

Keep things simple with regards to feeding nutes and you’ll be harvesting in no time at all.

Hi everyone, having problems with my smaller plant now. Also auto same as above, I noticed some purple blotches on lower two leaves and thought it was a phosphorus problem so gave them a weak bloom nute feed (low nitrogen high in phosphorus and potassium) seems to have got worse not sure what the issue is, any suggestions would be really appreciated

Looks like a pH issue. Most likely from going from 6.5 to 6 if you just changed it.

Making lots of adjustments is one of the most common beginner issues, right along with watering/feeding incorrectly.

If you are in coco medium once the plants have established roots, like yours now, you can't over water/feed them. They should've watered/fed at least once a day now. In coco you should always be giving them nutrient solution at the proper pH range which is why I edited the post to say watered/fed each time. Never give the plants just plain water. Continue giving them your nutrient solution at 6 pH.

Other than that, the suggestions to get a better light are very good ones. Nothing else other than proper plant care will give you better results.

Yeah I kinda panicked and changed quite abit too quickly. Just ordered a Mars hydro ts 1000, did some research and the Amazon one ive got at the moment has shit light spectrum :/

It's not that it has a poor light spectrum it's the fact that it's not really a 100w light and you'd struggle to flower anything in that size space with that light.
