hows it going......person who was running my job today was tossing these out so i grabbed em cuz he said they were a couple hundred dollars a peice....im tryna see if i can use em to grow

onlly thing i can figure is the 3000 is the spectrum so hopefully decent flowering llights but idk anything about leds.....can you guys helpme out and lemme know if theyre usable and maybe how powerful they are

From the little data I could find they run roughly 31 watts and produce 2345 lumens which isn't all that impressive for white LED. Probably OK for veg and probably not OK for flowering. Still you have drivers and heatsinks so with a little time and effort you could upgrade the, (what looks like), COB LEDs in those lights to something that that will flower effectivley

veg is really what i need more power on anyway....workin w cfls now sadly.......hps for flower so thats no big deal

i did just get off the phone with amerlux and they told me its 31 watts each bulb...3000 kelvin? w/e that means
high color rendering....and 97 cri.....and flood optics.

on these fixtures i looked up its got 2 bulbs in each fixture and i have 6 of em total.

so do leds work the same way as other lights in tryna figure the 100 watts per plant?
cuz now i have 12-31 watt bulbs to work with which is 372 watts

They're gonna be good for veg I bet. The reflectors will help keep that light on the canopy, high CRI in veg is fine if a bit inefficient. Worst case is they could stretch the plant a bit but they seem to produce enough light to veg. And not knowing some more information about the COBs makes making any kind of guesstimate based on wattage tough. LEDs are not like HPS when it comes to wattage. They're not really universal. Some brand's LEDs can work better with less wattage than other brand's offerings. I would stick to at least 30 watts per square foot and see how the plants react. You're probably going to have to do a little bit of tweaking to find the area those lights will cover unless you can find out who makes those COBs inside the light.

That's Black, White, Green, right? Just snip and wire nut them to an extension cord. You could get fancy but that's easiest.

Amen to that. I was just testing 20 of my 10W Cheapo Chinese phosphors (10x 6500k & 10x 3500k) and found my cools were running at ~700mA with 12V while the warms were wanting ~1A at 12V. Go figure, eh?
That suggests I can use my cools with a 12V fan in parallel off the same driver I am using for just the warms (12V 900mA buck-booster. Cost: ~$1.50/pc). Although, there may be a problem with matching loads...hmmm :-? I'll have to think about that for a bit.

On top of it, one of my cools is wired backwards! (i.e. the + is - ) :lol: I suppose that's why I got the whole lot for ~$10. :mrgreen: The cool chips are probably thinner crystals, is my guess, seeing as I bought them from a different source.
So, yes, not all LEDs are created equal, especially when they're from Zhong Guo.

Yeah but I just don't think those COBs, which are designed to make an object look better primarily, have enough horsepower to flower. I mean that's sub 100 l/w performance. 97 CRI isn't helping produce photons either but the broader spectrum can't be that bad for the plant.

But it's all speculation without more information. The real trick is to take one apart and see what's inside and figure out what CXB or whatever that's righteous will fit :).

true the raw horsepower may not be there, but could be a great supplement for flowering especially with the weak hps spectrum.

Yeah those would work, covering 3'x3' for either veg or flower. That's a good all around plant spectrum. The only downside is that they only put out about 60 lm/wt so they won't be as easy on power as higher quality brands and will put out more heat.

Those won't flower a 3x3 unless your plants are like 6 inches high. No way IMO. And Bob I think there isn't enough information on what type of COBs they are to say what you are saying. Unless you've use those lights before then excuse me.

Franjan thank you for all the help....I'm clueless with leds and u helped me a ton

So general consensus with everyone is they belong in the veg room?
I got 6 or 7 of these things so I figure I'll put 3 or 4 of em side to side in my vegbox

And as far as taking one apart To find out more about them I def got a few to spare so if u tell me what to look for once I pop one of em open I'll give u guys everything ya need

Just take some pictures as you open one and but try to get a closeup of the COB so people can see the pattern of the LEDs used and design of the COB itself. Probably a Honglitronic but it could be a Samsung.
