I really need to know what kind of light i need to get to start growing 3 plants. I also want to know if i can use a black light, how would that work with the lighting of my plant, if i use a black light will i still need to use sodium lamps or what. I heard that 400 watt high pressure sodium lamp will do fine but he was growing like 7 plants at the time or somthing like that. So can i please get some input on what i should do.

P.S. -PLEASE READ- and if you do give a suggestion, can you add in a price i should be expecting around?

A 400W HPS will work, you dont want to use it until the plants are a few weeks old and slowly work it closer to the plants so they build up a tolerance. For the first few weeks just go get a few Bluelight CFL's. The HPS is more of the redlight spectrum which is better to use for flowering but they will do for vegitation also. You need to read some more and do some more research and make your own informed decision. Then you will be confident in your own abilities.

High Tech Garden Supply sells a good 400watt hps that comes with a blue spectrally enhanced bulb great for vegging and flowering, 119.95 i believe is the price, and it's very worth it, the best deal you will find.

I know that 400 watt HPS is good for my plant but is there somthing else i can start off with, like a little bit cheaper. And please let me know about how black light works with the plant. what does it do to the plant?

Get like 6 cfl's to start off with...energy efficient, cheap, and a lot of light for cheap.

You dont want to use the blacklight. As everyone stated go get some CFL.
they are cheap, keep them close to the plants. and you should really spend some money on the hps. that one 119.95 is really good because it is blue enhanced, which is an execellent all around light. You have time to save, as those 2-3 cfls you bought will hold the plant over for like 3-4 weeks. MH for VEG
HPS for Flowering

Buy a switchable ballast and then just change the bulb when you are going from veg to flower and to your 12/12 light (flowering) schedule.

id say cfls all the way. u can get both spectrums of light u need, not have to deal with heat and can put light 1" away from plants. Not to mention u can get buds just as dank or danker then any 1000w bulb, cfls give off a comfortable light ray that make trichomes bloom early and fast. Of course u wont have as great of a yeild. Also think of all the electricity u will save as well. Id give cfls some serious thought.

There is no way in gods green Earth you get buds as dank or danker than what a 1,000 watt bulb gives you. No comparison. It is not even close. You will never see a cola the size of a 2 litre coke bottle with compact floros.

a watt is a watt period. So there really is no electric savings except that you are using less light, hence less electricity
A watt will produce about the same amount of heat whether it’s from an HPS, MH, or Fluorescent. An HPS puts out a lot more light per watt, so you’d need 800 watts of fluorescent light to equal 400 watts of HPS. You’d create more heat with 800 watts of fluorescent than you would with 400 watts of HPS.

Floros are good for vegging and cloning and that is about it. To get in the game you need to get HID (high intensity discharge) lighting....MH or HPS.

Floros grown plants are are spindly and scraggly compared to HID grown weed.

Not to kick anyone in the nuts over their floro systems but HID is the way to go for kickass weed.

I have seen real nice multiple T-5 floro systems which look cool but when it comes down to it, they are HUGE and do not produce the quality results of HID lighting.

I plugged in my 400 watt hood the other day and laughed and could not believe the day and night difference since I went to the 1,000 watters canopy punching power. The xtra electricity spent is worth the extra quality and weight hands down easily everytime.

Btw how many of u have even used cfls for an entire grow? lol u say HID is the way to go for kick ass weed lmfao all i have to say is u go with that cuz u obviously dont have the appropriate knowlegde on the subject matter, if u did u would not have posted such a blind comment (chinga). People dont seem to understaned cfls can be 1" away from the plant and dont realize how big of an advantage this is. When i say the finished product can be as potent as any 1000w bulb im not talkin out of my ass, lol these are facts sorry to dissapoint HID users out there.

Again - if you want really kickass weed, go HID.

If you are spending your hard earned money and want the best weed and are smoking it, floros are not the ticket.

I am not talking out my ass either and have been smoking and growing longer than you have probably been alive. 30 years plus.

I use floros when I was in high school and have since graduated to the pros with HID.

Floros are for bubblegummers and not serious weed growers.

I can have my plants as close as 10" to my sealed hoods and one light covers a 5 foot by 5 foot area without breathing hard and those bottom branches are getting pounded with light versus floros.

Floros are circus like but I guess some like to have training wheels as well.

Time to graduate.

chinga, to say cfl growers are not serious cultivators is a statement very very far from reality. i know experienced growers that only use cfls. how do u not understand this i take it u grew with floro tubes which is a completely different topic, im talkin about cfls. u say cfls cant "pound" light to the bottom of the plants? that statement there shows u have no experience in what ur arguing. Cfls can be positioned all around the plant hitting it in places the hid's will miss. ur correct in saying cfls will not yeild like hid lights will thats because u dont get the sheer lumens in cfls like u do in hps. potency is a different story, it seems from real experince that the light rays emitted by cfls are comfee on the trichomes and promote early growth. Once again ive seen cfl grown bud that would compete with that of a 1000w bulb (potency wise). why are u arguing with facts? i would have dropped this long ago but with ur senseless rambling i felt obligated to get the real word out there.

Dude - when you are ready to graduate those are the facts.

Floros are for beginners and when you get serious you will literally see the light.

i take it all u know is from what uve read and not actually seen (or smoked). And to say floros are for beginners? man way to dig urself deeper into the noobie hole. i would suggest to u learning more about cfls and seeing that they are very capable. this is over, im done, if u knew bout cfls and there potential u would not have ever started this and thats a fact.
