It's doubtful any entity cares about the few plants most people on here grow.

But regardless of that I'm not taking part in any study unless I get compensated for it. $500 minimum for my time.

Since you obviously are certain the government is collecting your data, how exactly are they doing that?

You are insinuating that they are covertly and illegally collecting data.
Currently, 25 US state attorney generals oversee data privacy laws governing the collection, storage, safeguarding, disposal, and use of personal data collected from their residents, especially regarding data breach notifications and the security of Social Security numbers. Some apply only to governmental entities, some apply only to private entities, and some apply to both.

California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

This was sometime in 2018 when all the websites (that I visit because I am in CA) are required to place a header on their page stating they are collecting my personal information.

The CCPA could be considered the equivalent of the GDPR overseas. A huge win for CA and people's right to privacy if you ask me. But I was under the impression you thought the government was collecting everything you did online.

Tracking cookies, browser fingerprints, etc. are a different story. All things you can circumvent if you truly wanted to stay anonymous.

I agree with you on that
